Good on Letterman. While a lot of his stuff can be pretty crass, I'm glad he's using the threat to his advantage and not avoiding the stage or cowering (or crying) as a result. This must absolutely infuriate the person who posted the threat in the first place.

More garbarge coming out of these illinformed muslim jihadist nut jobs.

    Send in another drone.

Pretty funny considering the guy was raised Presbyterian.

True comedians are so much more than just funny.

    Bravo, Dave...

Laughing in the face of death - good on you Letterman! I'd imagine his security has been beefed up, wouldn't be surprised if he has a contingent of 10 or so full-time bodyguards. Because until the fatwa is lifted, he is going to have loads of them crazies over there in the States trying to bump him off. I understand the US has many millions of practicing Muslims, and it only takes a few of them to plot something. I think Rushdie had the Fatwa hanging over his head for 20 odd years.

I think Dave also made a few remarks about the NRA in his routines in the past. I am sure that he is probably packing now in addition to his bodyguards.

But, I have to say good for him to stand up. He along with the writers of South Park have a lot more guts than some of our politicians. I hope that it is just some nut job mouthing off and nothing happens to him. But even though I am not too fond of Letterman, he still should be able to tell a joke, and not worry about some crazy putting a fatwah out on him.

Is an internet post all it takes to start a fatwah?

Very good on Letterman! For once in a lifetime on JT - I agree with every single poster above! Yeah!

The video was good too. I hope American Muslims who are loyal to their country will see it as a good example of how to stand up to these religious bullies, rather than quaking in fear.

Letterman is rich enough to afford 24/7 bodyguards. For others, it is no laughing matter. There are enough people living under islamic death threats around the world and in the USA who don´t feel amused.

Hate to point that out to you, but the drones only create more of those. Talk about being ignorant about the nature of an issue.

Of course Dave is not worried about this threat. C'mon, it's common knowledge that Paul Shaffer is a ninja. No one messes with Dave while Paul is around.

    Yeah baby.

A good way to deal with the likes of al Qaida is to turn them into a laughing stock, making jokes at their expense. Being full of self-importance and righteousness they can't handle it at all.

Anyway, I thought fatwas could only be issued by Islamic scholars, not any random nutcase writing on an internet forum, so it's incorrect to say Letterman has a fatwa against him.

"Backstage, I was talking to the guy from CBS," he explained. "We were going through the CBS life insurance policy to see if I was covered for jihad."

Good to see a little of the old Letterman; and good to see him effortlessly explode the pathetic PC myth, reflexively mouthed by the multi-culti crowd, that jihad means 'interior struggle.'

I've heard through a few people that "Real" muslims in NY were attempting to band togeather to protect Letterman. Anybody know if there is any truth to this?

On that note, kudos to those Muslims that do not agree with the radical side, and Kudus to Letterman for being so courageous!!!

That's what America is all about!
