Maki Mizuno dodges question on marital bliss

TOKYO —
Actress Mizuno Maki, 41, made an appearance this week to promote the stage production “Light Snow,” which runs Oct 5-22 at Tokyo’s Imperial Theatre. It was her first public appearance since her husband, Masazumi Gotoda, 41, a member of the lower house for the Liberal Democratic Party, was spotted kissing and fondling a hostess in an expensive Tokyo bar.
When asked if her family will come and see her on stage, Mizuno—who was not wearing a wedding ring—simply nodded and said yes. She was also asked if Gotoda, who has been living separately, had returned home, she said “We have a perfect married life” with a smile, but did not elaborate.

perfect married life - living seprately from your spouse . Sounds perfect, leaving enough freedom for the husband to kiss and fondle hotties in front of the media.

He pays for everything, whilst she pretends to be his wife and love him. That's why it's perfect...

So sad that this is what she said. Though perhaps they have an open relationship?

Wife: "If you have nothing to do after office, can you go watch a movie or something. It's so embarrassing you are the only husband who comes home before midnight". An imperfect married life.

And so she should dodge it. It's none of their, nor our, business how her marriage is going.

“We have a perfect married life”
In Japan, that means never doing anything with said husband -- only going out for coffee and chatter with other female friends while the dude works until 10 p.m. then goes to the izakaya. So yeah, I guess living separately is the 'perfect married life' for many here. She was right to dodge the question, though -- people here are bizarre in how they investigate personal lives.

"Shya yoo zoku"--enjoying a high standard of living (dine and wine and women) on company expense accounts, prestige of a big shot of a company, or of the government. A husband who comes home early morning, morning after morning, drunk, could be source of pride of a wife, or, could be part of a perfect married life.

People are too mosey. Leave them alone and get a life.

I feel bad for this woman.
Just because she is famous (apparently) does not mean her husband is any less of a sleazebag. Or that it must not seriously suck to have your husbands groping and snogging some tart plastered all over the national press.

You don't need to feel bad for this woman. If she divorces, she'll clean him out.
Futhermore, you need to understand what she meant by "a perfect married life in Japan. In Japan, it's to be expected. This is a society that loves communal dining and sharing of everything. Harmony must be maintained.
Your husband is NOT your husband.....if he was he'd be able to come home. Your wife is NOT your wife....At work, she's made to serve the men tea and treats. They even dress her up. Does your wife dress up for you at home? NO, probably not.
In Japan the boss is king. If you aren't a rich man, your wife belongs to him. Now, of course, Maki Mizuno expects women to bow to her husband on a daily basis. That's his position in life. He was at a hostess club......this woman he was touching was peasant at best compared to Mrs. Mizuno. He has a right to use her and Maki knows that this cheap hostess wishes she could take her husband.
This is not a society where moral and ethics dictate the law. Family values are different here. It's not about love. It's about the husband taking care of his wife. With that said, it's a perfect marriage indeed, according to Japanese standards. You never kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Anyway, that marriage was to help her career grow. and likewise she's just a trophy wife.
