Maomi Yuuki guest of honor at Best Kisser awards

TV personality Maomi Yuuki, 31, was the guest of honor at the Best Kisser 2011 awards ceremony this week.

At the ceremony, she described her first kiss, telling the media it was with her boyfriend, two years her junior, when she was a third grader in high school. "We sort of bumped into each other and it was like, 'Oh, we kissed,'" she recalled.

She went on to describe her favorite kind of kisses as, "Not those in which a man has contrived a situation, but those moments in which he approaches directly and without artifice."

"Kissing is so important when it comes to getting to know someone," Yuuki added. "They say Japanese men nowadays are too passive and effeminate. I think they should try kissing more!"

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Can someone please put an end to this "bestist" insanity? Is there no intelligent life left in Japan?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

herefornow, quit with your j-bashing, its just sop childish. you know what they say, if you dont like, go.

The number of ridiculous 'competitions' they have here is astounding. I take it this award describes the best on-screen kisser? Although I can picture some crazy game-show here where girls have to kiss as many guys as possible and they describe who was best. :)

sharpie -- good advice. Did just that. And it makes me realize just how silly Japan is and what how much someone has to lower/dumb down their intellect to enjoy life there. But, sharpie, from your posts, that sounds like a perfect environment for you. By the way, what is "sop"? And someone using the word childish to defend this kind of third-grade thinking is amuzing to say the least?

As there is no photo posted, I highly recommend any interested parties do an internet search on her...

Also, these 'awards' are usually from magazines and the like, and are a part of 'entertainment culture'... most Japanese people don't even care about them.... saying there is 'no intelligent life left in Japan' is just ridiculous.

Sharpie,

herefornow, quit with your j-bashing, its just sop childish. you know what they say, if you dont like, go.

If everyone had to 'go' when they find a thing they dislike, countries would be empty.

I agree that the Japanese media spends far too much time & money on fads, on trends, on unimportant or useless facets of life.

Herefornow,

If you don't like the Japanese media, you should stay away from sites especially like Japan Today who frequently post meaningless tripe.

So where would we all be? Floating in the ocean? What if we didn't like that, either?

Kissing is so important when it comes to getting to know someone,

No it isn't! No need to kiss anyone you don't know. Save your kisses for your loved ones. They're not like candy, to be handed out free to all and sundry.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

How do they get to decide this?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

j bashers like herefornow love japan today, they cant get enough of it.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

J-bashing? Isn't this more about bashing J-media?

I am all for anti-J media in its mediocrity and childishness.

so who won the special tongueist award, a sub-category of best kissist ?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

“We sort of bumped into each other and it was like, ‘Oh, we kissed,’” she recalled.

My, the erudition of this woman.

She went on to describe her favorite kind of kisses as, “Not those in which a man has contrived a situation, but those moments in which he approaches directly and without artifice.”

Why do I find it hard to believe that she said this?

How was she judged to be the best kisser? Did she have to be tongued by a panel of experts? If so, when will she be awarded Best Herpist?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@herefornow. well said!!

@cleo: what if they like to have it more (from unknown person of course!)?

Maomi is gorgeous.

Wow you all get so sensitive with Sharpies suggestion

but if you ever come to Australia you will see people have bumper stickers on their cars and its said all the time

"if you dont like it then leave".

Herefornow, whats with the hardcore comment? I dont completely disagree with your comment, but chill out a little, I dont think the 'best kisser awards' are something to be taken so seriously lol
