Marcia to release new song for the first time in 10 years

TOKYO —

Japanese-Brazilian celebrity Marcia, 40, will release a new song, “Yours,” for the first time in 10 years. Marcia, who divorced in 2004 and currently lives with her 10-year-old daughter, said, “When my daughter first heard my new song, she said my singing style wasn’t very good. But finally, she said she was moved by the song.”

Marcia first came to Japan in 1986 after winning a singing contest in Brazil. The new song will be released on Oct 22.

I vaguely remember Marcia from my time in Japan as a student in the mid-90s.

She was a singer and talento in the 90s and quite funny at the same time.

I can't stand her. With her arrogant and "fake" personality she fits right into the variety show circuit and she milked her gaijin idol status for quite a few years. She married a two-bit actor who was a renowned playboy and then divorced him when he played true to type. I had hoped she'd just gone home to Brazil but then she pops back up again. I have the same problem with mold in my bathroom (though I don't think it came from Brazil).

It sounds like her daughter has sussed her out though, but is also savvy enough to tell Mommy what she wants to hear.
