Mariya Takeuchi’s latest album “Expressions” was ranked No 1 this week on the Oricon music chart as the female artist with the longest career.
Takeuchi, 53, who debuted in 1978, renewed the record that Yumi Matsutoya, 54, had previously set.

Wow, that is a long career, congratulations to her. It goes without saying that if she was not talented she would not have had such a long career.

Hey, that is a long career compared to western artists. You don't have to be talented to have such a long career.

so why say it again and again?

Two words: Pamela Anderson. I'm confused about this article. Her new CD (called an 'album' here) charts at number one in the category of female with the longest career? And she 'renewed' the record Matsutoya set? Did she break the record? And if Matsutoya is older, doesn't she have the longest career or does she have to produce another CD?

That's a weird category if it is indeed what the article is saying. In any case, congrats to Mariya Takeuchi. I've been a big fan since discovering her music back in the 90's. Her album "Quiet Life" is still one of my favorites (on my "all-time"/"stuck-on-a-desert-island" list with such others as Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book" and Bob Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde," to name just a couple). She, Dreams Come True, and Ikuko Harada are the only J-pop acts I try to keep up with.

Nice to see that the digital age haven't reached parts of the world yet.

When she gets to Mick Jagger's age and is still performing, then we can say that is a career!!
