I wish you continued good health, Sir Paul. We are looking forward to your next trip back to Japan.

that must have been one bad arse bug to knock him out for two weeks. i wonder if we'll ever find out what it was.

I hope Mccartney does one day return for his many fans here - and ignored sections of the grubby Japanese media slagging him off and accusing him of his illness being alcohol-related.

perhaps that same 'unique' virus that sometimes infects rich celebrities & leading politicians.

Wear a mask next time Macca!

It must have been pretty serious if he couldn't leave to seek treatment in his home country.

The operation to resolve the obstruction was successful

He had an operation? In Japan? Really? Wonder who the lucky doctor was?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Never say never, but I'm saying he'll never come back here.

I find this statement rude on a number of levels.

Bootleg Beatles are more fun than him trotting out a succession of his songs - especially the garbage he did with Wings.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Could Sir Paul Mac departure be any more of a contrast to his arrival? ........ Kyodo Tokyo had the faith to promote, McCartney's Fans invested vast sums to pay homage, McCartney's should have the moral courage to depart in the same manner as he arrived.

I wish McCartney the best of luck, health and hope that he fully recovers completely and can continue his tour without any more setbacks.

@Wakarimasen

You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs

I look around me and I see it isn't so

Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs

And what's wrong with that?

I'd like to know

'Cause here I go again

I love you, I love you I love you, I love you

Glad he recovered. Shame about the cancellations, but it can't be helped.

Yes, I am sure you are much more musically talented than him...

I'm wondering if he brought in a doctor from abroad rather than deal with the system here. Wouldn't blame him if he did. Hope he recovers and yes, a big middle finger to the media here slagging him off.

I don't believe a doctor that did not have a Japanese medical license would be allowed to practice medicine here in Japan. Perhaps he brought a doctor to consult with, but any operation would have almost certainly had to have been performed by a Japanese licensed physician.

To judge Paul McCartney on Japanese tabloid paper reports is rightly unwarranted. To request Paul McCartney provide lead promoter Kyodo Tokyo all the necessary medical reports that lead to the cancellations is perfectly justifiable.

Statements made by a New York-based public relations company is not supportive to providing Kyodo Tokyo with that information, in fact declining to give any precise details of the Paul McCartney's illness.

Paul McCartney is not above scrutiny, the situation would not have arisen in Britain as Live Nation/Ticketmaster would not contempt promoting any tour without necessary insurance cover.

He probably got busted for pot again and this is just the cover story.

You mean the pot prescribed for his Glaucoma?

so, it you forked out 100,000yen for a ticket on Yahoo Auction or something I assume you only get back the face value of the ticket and can't hold onto the seat number for a future gig. That's got to suck if you happen to have a good seat.

It's normal for Japanese hospitals to keep you in much longer than necessary. They want your money, plain and simple! Two weeks for a tonsillectomy etc..?!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

A nurse told me that they keep folk in longer than necessary for medical reasons:

If the doc signs them out, then they'll be expected back at work the following day, no excuses.

Keeping people in "too long" protects them from their bosses.

One acquaintance of mine paid 80,000 yen for a ticket. I thought Madonna at 50,000 yen a few years ago was pricey but 80,000 yen? I'd want dinner and breakfast with Paul thrown in for that price.

Nah, it was a bad stomach bug... ; )

Glad to know he is back on his feet. This is the first and hopefully last time he has come to Japan when it has actually COST him money. There is an endless supply of it here for him. Many of his older fans here bought tickets to every show and this is typical of the spoilt and greedy attitude of many obsessive and impatient fans in Japan. Many act as if they own him. One fan on the news said she is traveling to the U.S. in a few weeks to see him instead to make up for the pain of missing him here. I mean, how dumb and spoilt can you get? To the critics who say McCartney at 72 is too old - the Stones took way more drugs and can still rock. Hell, Tony Bennett is 87 and tours over 200 days a year so there are plenty of years left in Macca yet!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

He's not too old @mataka, he's just an awful 'musician'!

Who cares what costs him money - any losses will be claimed against tax anyway.

The emperor's new clothes comes to mind. Name me any 'song' he has written in the last 50+ years that is not just plain irritating.

Ooooh stand back and wait for the thumbs down!!

I'm just curious, what makes McCartney a terrible musician? Sure music is subjective, but most musicians and even so called musicians WISH they could achieve a fraction of success that Paul has had with the Beatles, with Wings and as a solo artist, most musicians will never match that kind of success at that level to become MULTI-Billionaires. The man has written timeless classics, songs that people will still be singing for years after he's long gone. I want the Paul McCartney haters to please prove to me why he is a bad musician, again if you don't like his work, fine, but that he is overall a crappy musician, I want to know.

If you play music, you know. Paul McCartney become rich and famous by using mostly four chords. If you learn these four chords, which is very simple, you will be able to cover nearly every pop song Beatles ever written. However, covering a song will not make you all that rich and famous. McCartney made money by making a melody to go with this simple chord progression. After McCartney mastered these four chords he played hundreds of songs.

What was the hospital? I want to go walk along the corridors where Paul may have walked.
