Megumi Yasu appointed 'takoyaki' ambassador

TOKYO —

A theme park developer has appointed TV personality Megumi Yasu, 28, its ambassador of “takoyaki,” a popular Japanese dumpling made of batter, baby octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger and green onion, topped with okonomiyaki sauce, ponzu, mayonnaise, green laver and bonito shavings.

Yasu attended an event in Odaiba to promote the Takoyaki Museum which opens Saturday. Yasu, known for her love of cooking, tried her hand at making some octopus balls herself after which the gathered press asked her who she would like to have feed them to her. Yasu replied, “Well, since I’m almost 30, so I guess it’s about time I found Mr Right.”

Well, it is an important position so I'm very glad to see that they have their best woman on the job... . . . . . . . . FFS....

Is she levitating a takoyaki ball right in front of her mouth?! Now THAT'S talent! :)

Up next is the appointment of the Yakitori Ambassador.

I love takoyaki as there are so many different kinds, but the first one I put in my mouth seems to burn the heck out of it as I twist with pain and try to keep it moving, only to spit it out and foolishly try the one next to it. Anyone agree? I have lots of scar tissue to prove it. And yes, I would love to TakoYakiTango with this babe.

I hope she goes well with the inevitable takoyaki mascot that'll be around the corner.

Takoyaki tastes like hot raw liquidy dough with a tiny piece of octo inside, half-cooked, and covered in a cloying sauce with gross-smelling fish flakes on top. A more foul creation cannot be found on the face of the planet. I might force one down for ole Megs here provided she had something more to offer as well.

I love Takoyaki and there is way nore foul food in this world for the traveller.

Granted you need to find a proper takoyaki shop/stand and skip the franchised stuff.

EbiChiri: Wow...natto or ikanoshiokara (salty fermented squid innards) are MUCH more foul than takoyaki. And I don't even like takoyaki!!

Wonder if EbiChiri ever ate "Monja" aka Tokyo style Okonomi-yaki?

She's completely wrong for this job. It should be an old guy with a shaved head and one of those rolled-up bandanna things on his head.
