Meisa Kuroki enjoys physical scenes in new detective drama

Meisa Kuroki, 23, and Mikako Tabe, 22, will star in a new Asahi TV police drama, "Jiu Special Investigation Team," which will air Fridays, starting tonight, on TV Asahi at 11:15 p.m. The drama is based on the “Jiu” suspense novel series written by Tetsuya Honda.

According to a press release from TV Asahi, Motoko Isaki, played by Kuroki, is a fierce, physically capable investigator with a strong battle instinct, while Tabe's character, Misaki Kadokura, is more intellectual, kind-hearted and naive. The two of them join forces to track down Jiu, the ringleader responsible for a series of brutal crimes.

Kuroki said in a statement: "I'm an active person and I like physical scenes. I didn't find it stressful at all." Tabe, whose character often wears white to accentuate her kind-heartedness, said she is nothing like her character.

I've written a drama for Kuroki san to star in...I'm her co-star & since she isn't opposed to them, I've included many "physical" scenes.

I saw a poster for this in the train this morning.

It's "Jiu" not "Jui".

Won't be watching it either way.

22 and 23 year old detectives! Makes more sense to be 22-23 Traffic cops who in their off time investigate crimes. Oh wait, I don't want to give them anymore ideas....

How does anyone find a 23 year-old playing this part at all credible? No one makes investigator in Japan until like the 40's.

Wow. How do they come up with these innovative new concepts for police stories?

Tabe, whose character often wears white to accentuate her kind-heartedness, said she is nothing like her character.

So, she's a cold-hearted xxxxx? Yet another new idea with the colour-scheme. They wouldn't go and amaze us by having Kuroki dressed in... black, would they?

I wish Japan would make something more real-life. Like NYPD Blue or Homicide. Instead of having pretty 22 year-old girls dressed in pretty clothes as police investigating crimes, they should have a load balding 40 year-olds with no clue, wearing bad suits, shouting good morning to each other and saluting.

I'm waiting for them to make a drama about a 35 year-old policeman who's job it is to stand out in front of an embassy with a big stick and do nothing all day, but gets up to some crazy adventures telling people they have to walk on the other side of the road.

"enjoys physical scenes"

Something is definitely lost in translation with that headline.

Tabe and Kuroki should definitely be pitted against each other in a test of physical strength. Definitely.

Like CSI with fresh college grads. Grissom would love this.

Fantastic picture of Kuroki (and Tabe) here:

I don't agree that Japan should produce CSI or NYPD Blue type dramas. This is the perennial kawaii Disneyland, so more kawaii on TV I say.

Is there anyone who can honestly say they thought the headline didn't refer to sex? I suppose that was probably the lure.

Won't be watching it either way.

Me either. Bad actors and actresses lacking character, skills and appeal are difficult to endure. This actors never get any professional training I guess.

"whose character often wears white to accentuate her kind-heartedness,"

Somehow I don't think that's quite what the white is intended to accentuate...

she is welcome to be physical with me................................. LOL

First episode was good. I like both characters. They are a great team!

In one scene Kuroki kicked several guys' butts! She should definitely be in the next Charlie's Angels movie, she could eiither join them or replace one of them, though since I like all three of the present Angels, she should join them!

is it me, or is she losing her hotness just a little bit?
