Meisa Kuroki picked as 'Miss Lily 2009'

TOKYO —

Actress Meisa Kuroki, 21, is this year’s winner of the “Miss Lily” award. The annual award, being held for the 8th time this year, is given by the International Flower Bulb Center to women who are judged to look the best with lilies. Actress Ryoko Hirosue, 28, won last year.

Kuroki said she was glad to receive the award and that it made her feel like a woman again, after playing the role of feudal warlord Nobunaga Oda in the stage play “Onna Nobunaga” last month.

no, i don't think, on the contrary they may introduce such "awards" on monthly basis...! Meantime, i looking forward to 'Miss Lily 2010'

I think there has a drop off with the "best -ists" of late - the titles have become a tad more creative, but they're just - ho-hum - ways for industries to promote their goods/products/services. Pick a celeb, get them to hold the item in question, give them a spurious 'award', hold a press conference = more advertising.

Chrysanthemums are more common for funerals than lillies in Japan.
