Norikazu Otsuka, the anchor of Fuji TV's popular morning news and variety program "Mezamashi TV," phoned in a message to the program from his hospital on Monday morning.

Otsuka, 63, who has acute lymphocytic leukemia, has been in hospital since last week, told the anchors that he was doing fine, despite having a catheter in his neck and taking anticancer drugs.

He said he hopes to be back on the air next March or April.

ExportExpert,

While a photo would make it readily apparent to you, google him and I'm sure you will recognize him. He has been a daily visitor in the homes of Japanese people for many years.

I saw his message and I am very impressed with his positive attitude. I share everyone's wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yes! I was impressed as well. I hope he beats this thing rather quickly!

Is this from eating a lot of Fukushima produce? Good luck to him in the coming days, but one has to wonder...

I hope he gets better. Watch Mezamashi every morning, and it's weird not seeing him. I still think he looks a bit like an Oompa Loompa though.

I didn't know he's been in hospital because I haven't watched Mezamashi TV recently. I pray for his speedy recovery.
