Zen Builder: Not to mention the motorbike guys with their helmet behind their head. They are asking for "Kubi".

Electric2004. Yup, or the guys that use an open-face helmet for an elbow protector. I had my spills.

In many countries if you get hit from behind, its not your fault. The guy was probably following too closely, and she must have hit the brakes unexpectedly.
Need a little more details, because even if she "caused" the accident, it may not be her fault.
i wonder if her airbags deployed automatically.

The motorcyclist was probably following too close behind, trying to get a peek in the car's rear view mirror.

"She probably couldn't see over her chest".....just goes to show what can go wrong with plastic surgery today, these airbags must have moved to the back of her head because the bike was behind her car.

if she is only 40, I will eat my own
wilbur at 06:35 PM JST - 14th July
you can't drive with the airbags already deployed, honey

Nowadays signaling for turns is done by most for effect AFTER the turn, sometimes IN the turn and rarely JUST BEFORE the turn. Can't see how the bike rider could have been hit if he was BEHIND. If he was behind that's where he ought to have stayed.

yr observation about turn signals is spot on, combine that with the tail gating & I constantly see cars tailgating which when the car in front of them hangs a left that the car in behind suddenly veers to the right into the next lane or oncoming traffic, I see daily, lots of fender benders & worse because of there 2 bad driving habits here

I think we've had about enough of the 'chest, airbag en boob' comments. Is this all the brains can sprout? The title implies Kanno caused the accident, then we read she was involved in an accident, then that the biker was behind, and so still we do not know what happened. The thing here in Japan is that even if you observe all the traffic rules, do everything you think is according to the book, you are always at least partly wrong if you are involved in a traffic accident. The police or the courts won't help you much. The insurance companies work out a deal all the time and both parties always suffer.

Um, the motorcycle was BEHIND her as she made the turn, and got hit - which means he was trying to pass her on the inside. Why is SHE guilty of causing the accident, and not the motorcyclist? This is yet another of those really strange law things that just make zero sense to me...

Kano is a real woman. she has breasts.
gogogo at 04:46 PM JST - 16th July
kokuryu: The bigger / more powerful object is always at fault. Any car hits a bike it's automatically the car's fault. A motorbike hits a regular bike the motorbike is at fault.

"Why is SHE guilty of causing the accident, and not the motorcyclist?"
Because he was injured and she wasn't. Also, she has more money than he, thus is expected to shell out.
This type of "justice" scares the sh*t of me, being a resident of Japan.
