Still looking forward to "Weekend at Monties'"

Fortunately, produces allow him to take "naps" during the show. He has developed this "serious" face for serious news stories on his morning show where he actually closes his eyes for a while. Clever.

Is that the one where a Manzai pair try to cover up his death (from lack of sleep) by dragging round his corpse between weekly newswrap shows...with hilarious consequences?

Interesting all this bashing of the man and JP TV in general here. Well, he must be doing something right. I remember about 10 years ago a girl in 4th grade confided to me that her favorite TV personality was MM. I was a bit taken aback, but what could I have said? People like what they like and the gaijin is not going to change that. As for me, I used to watch TV for hours every day some decades ago (helped me to learn the vernacular), but for the past couple of years less than 30 minutes a week :-)

Well, he must be doing something right.

Highly dubious, but, like politicians, I believe people get the TV and entertainers they deserve. My feeling is that the Japanese public must have been very, very bad to get what they do, especially 22+ hours of this weathered brogue on their screens each week.

Talk about 'work-life balance.' Does this gentleman even have a home life?

Mino seems to be enjoying his time in front of the camera.

Which makes his advertisements for the housing company he shills for very, very empty.

Hmmm. (笑)Your one-sided bashing still isn't going to sway the millions.

Your one-sided bashing still isn't going to sway the millions.

I'd be deluded to think it would. Still entitled to my opinion though.

BTW, if 'one-sided bashing' actually exists, could you tell me what 'two-sided bashing' is? Or did you trip over your own tautology?

"Well, he must be doing something right", but what he does, is that right? Whenever I see him on tv he seems to be pretty good at pulling the heart strings of the audience. The way he can whip up an audience by using emotion is not a good tactic in the long run.

I have seen him on his morning program and only watched it because of the useful information it conveys. Except for that, it sucked. Mino Monta is trying too hard to be funny and the tv guests are trying too hard to laugh at him.
