Long-live Miyazaki.

Well deserved. All his movies are true works of art.

“One of the good points of making such short films is that I don’t have to worry about it having financial success,” he said. “The people who come to the museum are forced to see this film when they go into the little theater there. So even if it’s a little bit boring, they’ll probably sit through it and not raise a fuss.”

I had the privilege of visiting the Ghibli Museum recently and was "forced" to watch a 9-minute film that Miyazaki created. ;-) There was little dialog, but the story had been crafted such that dialog wasn't really necessary. While I had always been a fan of "Tonari no Tottoro", I came away impressed with Miyazaki's story-telling prowess even for short films.

P.S. the 9-minute story was not "boring", nor did anyone "raise a fuss" (except for one infant who suddenly wasn't feeling well and whose mother carried out of the theater).

Richly deserved.
