Moe Oshikiri breaks up with Giants pitcher Takahiko Nomaguchi

Popular model Moe Oshikiri, 29, has broken up with long-time boyfriend, Yomiuri Giants pitcher Takahiko Nomaguchi, 26. Oshikiri’s management agency confirmed the breakup in a fax to media on Saturday. The fax said that the couple, who have been dating since 2005, decided to end their relationship at the end of August.

Oshikiri, who models for fashion magazine AneCan, has been constantly asked about her love life over the last few months at whatever event she attended. Most recently, on Sept 9, she dodged questions about whether she and Nomaguchi were planning on getting married.

The fax stated that both Oshikiri and Nomaguchi felt that right now, they both needed to concentrate on their careers.

I get the same reaction when I tell them I would never date or marry a Japanese girl. I prefer Chinese or Korean LOL.

That is something they really don't get.

There are plenty of near or above 30 year old Japanese woman who eye a man up like meat. Nomaguchi did the right thing.

one thing (among many) that i find especially confounding about the institution or marriage is that it leads otherwise intelligent people to do dumb and irrational things in the name of giving the outward appearance of "normality"

Suely that's a lie ? I'm sure I recall her confirming their relationship only about a year ago ? She hasn't been seeing that guy for 4 years.

Ok, here's how it went down. Girl was bugging the guy to get married. He, being a young athlete, likely had lines of girls, but dating a model is something. So naturally, he was riding this pony as long as he could. She kept bugging him (as other posters have suggested) about getting married since she was turning 30. He rebuffed her again, and again, but couldn't quite bring himself to break it off.

Since there wasn't a big fight, or scandal, she couldn't likely announce with any amount of drama, as she likely realized she was being blown off.

So to save face, she pretended it was a mutual thing, and had it done through "her people" via fax, instead of writing some long emotional post on her blog. Girls that are pushing 30 don't like to admit that younger guys with much more market value are blowing them off.

Don't know anything about her, but I hope she finds a man that can make her happy.

It's not just Japan. If someone wants a career instead of marriage, that's great. But if someone pursues a career at the cost of marriage or children, that's not in their interest. There's a big difference there, and you can tell because the first woman is a spectacular success and the second woman can only whine about how the world is unfair and she can no longer have children. It's not just Japan, but people only respect the first woman.

bamboohat hit the nail on the head. Takahiko was playing her along and when she got the drift she sent the fax. Women, it's okay to sleep with a guy you are attracted to. It's okay to marry a man you love. But don't confuse the two.

What exactly was their relationship doing to interfere with their careers? I always wonder what kind of realtionship slebs have, what they do together, how constant puvblic attention shapes things blah blah blah.
