Mona Yamamoto, Ayako Nishikawa promote 'Desperate Housewives' DVD release

TOKYO —

Celebrity Mona Yamamoto, 33, and cosmetic surgeon turned celebrity Ayako Nishikawa, 38, took to the stage at Oribe Hall in Roppongi to promote the DVD release of Season 4 of popular American drama series “Desperate Housewives.”

Nishikawa, once voted “most unpleasant woman” on a variety show in late 2007, is engaged and set to get married in April next year to Ajia Fukumoto, 35. Fukumoto was a council member in Katsushika Ward in Tokyo from 2001, and ran for a seat in the federal Upper House election in 2006. He was endorsed by the Liberal Democratic Party but was ranked a lowly 33rd in proportional voting (out of 35 candidates for the area), and as such nothing came of it. Fujimoto now runs a ceremonial business near the welfare home his father runs.

Nishikawa, who was wearing an engagement ring worth two million yen, said: “My man likes me so much, it’s scary. I had him change his cell phone number after we got engaged, so that no other girls could call him.”

Yamamoto expressed her envy at Nishikawa’s ring, and said that her cheaper, lesser ring was just an anniversary ring given to her by her man, a 32-year-old real estate company president, to celebrate their time seeing each other. She then said that she wants a ring like Nishikawa’s, and also wants to get married soon.

Season 4 of “Desperate Housewives” is available for rental from Sept 16 and goes on sale Oct 21.

She then said that she wants a ring like Nishikawa’s, and also wants to get married soon.

Why? So she can go off and cheat with another married spouse?

truly inspirational. the young women of japan should pay attention and strive for the dizzy heights of these intellectual giants. oh, were they promoting something? it just didn't seem to be related to the japanese

Isn't it bad enough that Japanese TV is garbage? No need to import the American junk, too.

engagement ring worth two million yen

    Hmm

I had him change his cell phone number after we got engaged, so that no other girls could call him.

    Hmm x2

They couldn't have picked anyone more suited to represent the series. I wonder if Nishikawa or Yamamoto see the irony of their being chosen? Unlike these two, the actresses playing the desperate housewives in the series are only acting their roles... Sad.

Mona, outrageous! 'cept she will never be a housewife despite her desperateness to steal husbands good story line for SSN7, anyone from Disney listening.....

  • Pivot at 12:52 PM JST - 14th September

Nishikawa has always been taking the p*ss with that character of being a rich money-grabbing biatch. It's incredibly obvious that that's her "character" and she is simply acting a role

Desperate indeed. Good choice of tarento's for this promotion. although why the hoo haa for Season 4 is a bit puzzling.

Mona Yamamoto and Ayako Nishikawa should not be involved in promoting "Desperate Housewives" DVD release. I hate America's 21st century TV series. I have not subscribed to a TV cable service for several years. If I am interested in watching TV, I will just go over my parents' home.

Desperate being the optimal word in this snippet of info.

Yamamoto -- her cheaper, lesser ring ... Now THAT's an insult. If I were a guy and my girlfriend or wife said that about the ring I gave her, I'd seriously consider leaving her.

  • Himajin at 02:50 PM JST - 14th September

    Damned right.

  • POTUS at 10:10 PM JST - 14th September

it's obvious some posters here never watch HBO.

"Yamamoto expressed her envy at Nishikawa’s ring, and said that her cheaper, lesser ring was just an anniversary ring given to her by her man"

What an ungrateful b*tch; she should be happy he got her anything at all, most men dont even bother to remember anniversaries.

  • kirakira25 at 08:14 AM JST - 15th September

My God, I can think of many titles for these two, "Desperate" being just one of them!

If Nishikawas man is "so into her" as she claims, why the necessity of changing his cell phone? And if Yamamotos guy has read this, I suspect that relationship is already toast.

Acting a role? Sorry - if that includes publically insulting someone you are supposed to care about and be loyal to that`s just too much to ask. Although maybe not for a Japanese 30-something female "celebrity".
