Japan News and Discussion
Mona Yamamoto and co-anchor Toshihiro Ito
Tuesday 10th June, 03:06 PM JST
TOKYO —
Mona Yamamoto, 32, will host Fuji TV’s new news program “Sakiyomi” which will be aired at 10 p.m. on Sundays from July 6. Yamamoto returns to news programs for the first time since she left TBS’s “NEWS23” just after five days in October, 2006, because of a scandal over her reported affair with a married DPJ politician.
Yamamoto, who is an ex-announcer and news reporter for Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, said, “I will never do such a scandalous thing again. I would like to use my 10 years of experience as an announcer and reporter for news and variety programs to make ‘Sakiyomi’ a good program.” Asked about a new ring on her finger, Yamamoto said: “It’s just a lucky charm.”

In Japan, it's a scandal... in the US, it's points...

just how long is exile? is there a list somewhere with "scandals" and number of years?
tokyotom at 04:54 PM JST - 10th June

Do what you want to do. You're 32 years old. Your job has nothing to do with your personal life.

Typical Japan ... Give a young attractive woman a microphone and a teleprompter, and suddenly she is a "newsperson". And then when she acts like a young attractive woman, they sack here. She was not a newsperson/journalist in the first place, so do not expect her to act like one. She is just a glorified talento.

Cleo. Rubbish?? Really?? Feel free to educate the masses on this one.
Without knowing the details, pretty obviously here the married politician dude, when exposed, also expressed considerable remorse.

I guess it's great for her carrier, scandals boost publicity like nothing else. I remember a certain American girl that had sex with a politician just to become millionaire :)

Granted, the 30s are better than the 20s. The 40s are better than the 30s. I'm still researching the 50s, but so far it's looking good.
So - yes, rubbish.

cleo, I dunno. I've decided to keep researching the 20's again just to make sure

I'm with Cleo, and the younger people, or those who go for younger, haven't advanced far enough yet, so they lack depth. Interestingly it was only yesterday I learned about the existence of Mona from some of my acquaintances as we were discussing an announcer in my family. They seemed to be praising her, but I had the funny feeling they were hiding, or shall I say, seemed reluctant to reveal, something too!

“I will never do such a scandalous thing again.” Famous last words...
Tasty baseball players were too much for Mona to miss

Where is JT's story on her latest play?!
The media are taking her to the cleaners. Analysing her family tree and all that unrelated kind of stuff.
Love hotel was only 10 minutes from her house and according to one of the hotel staff she was a regular there, often spotted at 3 or 4 in the morning. Rowr.
