Mona Yamamoto to 'avenge' herself in new program

TOKYO —

Mona Yamamoto, 32, will host Fuji TV’s news program which will start at 10 p.m. on Sunday. The catchphrase on its promotion poster says, “I will avenge myself,” together with her photo.

Yamamoto is making a comeback to news. She had to quit TBS’s prime time “News23” program after five days in October, 2006, because of a scandal over her reported affair with a married DPJ politician. She said she isn’t too keen on the catchphrase for her new program. “I told the producers not to use that phrase,” she said.

Fuji announcer Toshihiro Ito will co-host the program.

Richard: If you are comparing her to other half-Japanese "talent", then maybe you have a point.

She's going to avenge herself? How in the world is she going to do that? What, she's going to wreak vengeance on the guy she had the affair with by using her position as a tv commentator? This is just plain lame.

"She is beautiful. The most beautiful talent in Japan, in my opinion."

That's great but is that a qualification for hosting a news program?

What, is she going to seduce the TV exec who fired her for having an affair? To paraphrase James Bond paraphrasing Confucius, when a loose woman is out for revenge, she must first buy two beds . . .

So will this program go ahead now she's all over the news for going to a love hotel with that Yomiuri Giants player (仁岡さん)?

Her denial is the biggest in-your-face lie I've seen on Japanese tv this week.

  • Altria at 05:32 PM JST - 10th July

Yeah, I'm surprised there hasn't been a story yet about her love hotel romp with Nioka, who is married with a kid...right when she was poised to make a comeback.

  • pathat at 10:11 PM JST - 10th July

Mona Yamamoto moans about getting a second chance and then she blows it with the Giants` Nioka.

And to think that Nioka has not been healthy enough to play for the Giants so far this season, but he sure has been genki enough to get it on with Moanin` Mona.

What is next Mona? A tell-all book? GO GET `EM, MONA!
