TOKYO —
Pop group Morning Musume will hold a concert in Shanghai on June 28 as part of an international music fair. The music fair has been held since February to promote the Shanghai Expo in 2010 and Canadian singer Celine Dion and Hong Kong actor Tony Leung have participated so far. Morning Musume will be the first Japanese artists invited to the event, the organizer said Tuesday.
Ai Takahashi, 21, leader of Morning Musume, said, “We hope we will make everyone in Shanghai happy with our concert.” Chinese member of the group, Li Chun, 20, added, “It was my dream to be able to perform at a live concert in my own country. I can hardly wait.”
Morning Musume plans to hold concerts in Taiwan on May 24 and in Seoul on June 1, prior to the Shanghai event.

Great news for a talented bunch of ladies!

I say go ahead to Seoul and Taiwan, but skip Shanghai. Visiting there will only legitimize Red China....
But wait, that's what we have to do, don't we: pander to the Reds in Beijing so that their Olympics will come off as some sort of success????

I'm with capone. Are they trying to start a war?

I am particularly fond of their double-headed guitar riff solo track, 'Resonant Blue'. It rocks.
p.s If you want to start a real war real quick with China, just send Johnny's boys over there and tell the Chinese that Johnny's boys are also similar to Chinese men..

Morning Musume? Here they are called Morning Mom, lost their luster, so let them try overseas. Also, Shanghai is popular destination for Japanese visitors. All flights from Japan bound for Shanghai are full of Japanese, say 99.99 percent.

Oh I forgot that China wasn't legitimized yet. Surely if they weren't before, they will be now once Morning Musume performs. Damn them.

Celine Dion and Morning Musume?? Could you think of two more stomach churning acts and somehow they're on the same bill!
China better be prepared for all the otaku flying over their for the gig. I remember them showing the freaks that go to Morning Musume concerts on TV once. Twice the girls age and it would be safe to say, not exactly beating the girls off with sticks!

Morning Musume really is trying to expand into the continent. Good for them.

I hear they've agreed not to bring their "Free Tibet" banner.
