Ugh, I hate it when people like this die. After you see them around for year after year, they have a special place in your life that when they die you realise how special people are, even the ones we don't have direct contact with.
Mizuno-san was the face and voice on my television every Wednesday night growing up. Yodogawa-san was on Sundays, Mizuno-san on Wednesdays. This is very sad news indeed.
Another quality Japanese TV icon passes away, there are so few remaining. Despite the poor quality of some of the movies that both he and Yodogawa-san were forced to review on their programs (due to the tight-wad TV stations not wanting to pay broadcast royalties for anything good), I always got the impression that this guy was very much captivated by the cinematic experience. Rest in Peace Mizuno-san.
Cleo - That's "Yaaaaaa, eigatte honto ni iimon desune!"
RIP, Mr. Mizuno. Or Mr. Yamashi-ta. His real name was Tomohiro Yamashi-ta. Amazing how I had to put a hyphen between the "i" and the "t" in his last name to get past JT's new "potentially offensive content" firewall, lol...

When I first came to Japan and my Japanese was next to non-existent, I couldn't fathom his Eigatte iimon desune! I thought there was a verb eigaru.
RIP, Mr. Mizuno. I hope they have a good cinema up there for you.

Pity. I watched his shows, too, for a long time. RIP.
Anyone know what movies he produced?
