TOKYO —

The Muscle Musical on Friday started its summer performance of “Matsuri – Oiran” at Muscle Theater in Shibuya. The musical will run until Sept 7.

The Muscle Musical is performed on stage by athletes demonstrating their professional gymnastic techniques to music. The summer event features several festivals from different cultures in Africa, America, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, France, China and Japan.  In addition to gymnastic action, tango and Oiran dances are also performed by synchronized swimmers in a pool on the stage.

  I don't know if this show is related to the 'Matsuri' show I saw in Las Vegas last year but that one was pretty awesome. Lots of eye candy both male and female, if you're into those types of things, breathtaking physical stunts. Great for the whole family.

  An "oiran", characterized by the very high geta, were prostitutes. Of course, this was before western influences gave the profession a bad name.
