Musical 'Cats' to end long run in Tokyo

TOKYO —
Shiki Theater Company has announced that the musical “Cats” will end its run on April 19, 2009, marking the end of the longest-running musical in Japan.
According to the company, “Cats” has been running for 25 years in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Shizuoka, Hiroshima and Sendai. Last June, the musical celebrated its 7,000th performance. The company said it is currently considering a new place for the musical in the future.
From Feb 1, admission will be cheaper with a special children’s charge, according to the company.
