TOKYO —
Actress Narumi Yasuda, 42, was among five women to receive awards at the “Best Mother Awards in 2009” held in Tokyo on Sunday, which was Mother’s Day. The women were chosen by the public through an online voting system, as mothers they aspired to be like.
Yasuda, who married comedian Noritake Kinashi in 1994 and with whom she has three kids, was chosen in the entertainment category. She said: “My kids are 13, 11, and 6 now, so I have a bit more time for myself these days.” When asked how her husband was at parenting, she said: “He’s more like a child who is easy to take care of, than a husband. A bit like an eldest son.”
Singer Eriko Imai, 25, won in the music category; model Chieko Kuroda, 47, won in the culture category; businesswoman Kaori Sasaki, 49, won in the business category; and singer Machi Tawachi, 46, won in the arts category.

Mittsu -- agree, that is the best part of the story. Maybe that is why many women here don't actually want to have kids. They are busy having to be a mother to their husband already.

I hear that Yasuda has Korean (north) heritage. Havent heard from her in ages. Was she Yuki sensei, Katori Shingo's Japanese teacher in that drama Dokku all those years ago?
