TOKYO —
Ex-Morning Musume member Natsumi Abe, 27, this week performed at an event to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sunshine City building in Ikebukuro. She was joined by other artists who were popular in the 1980s, such as Hiroko Moriguchi and Ayumi Nakamura.
Abe, who sang two songs on the stage at the four-story hall, said, “This is the first time for me to perform here. I’m very overwhelmed by people who are looking at me from above.”

She was joined by other artists that no one cares about now.

Most of these former 80s pop stars could walk down the street and not be recognized except by an otaku or two. I wonder if any of them made any money during their heyday.

How sad it must be heading towards 30 years of age and your claim to fame is, 'I was once a member of Morning Musume...'

I would have been excited to see this! Happy to see she is still performing. Those Morning Musume girls work pretty darn hard for what they really make. btw...what's Sunshine City?

Cannot possibly imagine Morning Museme will be able to celebrate their 30th Anniversary and sure hope they won't. The concept will be better off facing an early demise...

I think it's more economical to put a lot of cute girls together in one group than to have them all doing solo careers. though standouts like nana tanimura are acceptable (musical talent aside).
