If you were Bruce Willis would you say no to this? Dude's been in his share of absolute CRAP movies. He shows up for a few days, says some easy lines, and collects a few mil.

And the studio wouldn't be making this if it wouldn't make easy bank.

Every movies now ties in Japan and China because you can make more money

Bruce Willis is becoming to action movies as Brett Favre is to football players: past his prime but still holding on to past glory.

He will fight the baddies by throwing his dentures and waggling his walking stick.

Too many of those 'action actors' are beyond their use-by date. I hear Indiana Jones & the Prostate of Doom.' has been announced.

IMhO, Clint Eastwood did it well.

Should be fun. Into the Sun was SEagal's best in while purely because I could see places in Tokyo that I know and for the slightly quaint attitude to some of the quirks of Japanese culture. Sure, the Die Hard franchise should maybe have dies already, but if they are keeping it on life support a Tokyo setting sounds ok.

"Set in Tokyo", which means it will actually be filmed in Los Angeles. It is next to impossible for foreign movie producers to get permits to film in Japan, and Tokyo in particular, hence films like "The Last Samurai", "Memoirs of a Geisha", and even "Tokyo Drift" were all fimed outside Japan. Go figure,

The 9/11 plotters were encouraged to get to know the USA and live like a native in order to blend in, so they rented Die Hard, Towering Inferno, etc. and thoroughly enjoyed them. Filled them with admiration and good ideas.

@sangetsu: Actually Tokyo Drift has been partially shot in TOkyo. Memoirs of a geisha partially in Kyoto. But I agree a lot will be shot at home or CGed in.

Geez let the series die already. It's 'fun', but it's really not that great aside from the original. Movies filmed in Japan are filmed in Japan (Hollywood movies, that is) solely for the purpose of boosting sales. No doubt the Japanese Film Board will approve the release of the movie first here as opposed to the usual three month to two years delay.

I hope they use Shinjuku Crossing in the movie. Because they never use that in foreign movies set in Japan. :-/

I have some good ideas about gangs of vicious booted Gals, ingenious traps made of EV batteries primed to enter thermal runaway, and a final twist where TEPCO is actually run by Hans Gruber's Japanese ex-wife, played of course by Lucy Liu, who is not Japanese.

There'll be a fight up Sky Tree and the Main Villain will either be chucked out of a window or kicked off the top while Bruce looks wild-eyed and bloodied, breathing heavily.

Japan theater companies control the movies they think would make them money and not what review sites like Rotten tomatoes for example say about films. That's why we get a lot of schlock. Good luck to BW who is milking what time he's got left.

When I was in vacation in Rome my group stumped onto a movie set. All of us rushed out the opening weekend to see if we could see ourselves in the action shots. I bet most people would do the same.

Loved the original movies, but isn't bruce willis getting a bit old for these kinds of movies, not to mention the storyline is quite unbelieable.

I have a theory about Die Hard 5: they actually had a generic spy flick set in Russia with a young actor as lead (Jai Courtney). They were all set to start filming when someone had a flash: this was gonna bomb, the script was terrible, the actors didn't have enough recognition, it was just all-around bad.

So they panicked, but they knew that they were too far ahead to just stop. They decided to rewrite the script, added Bruce Willis as John McClane tagging along like a sad puppy, spouting one-liners reminiscent of much better movies, and called it Die Hard.

Bang! Mucho dinero. Marketing wins, the art of cinema cries itself to sleep.

I have a feeling that if it does staged in japan, it's probably gonna be one where it's the entire mclane family against the japaneese yakuza since the 5th was him and his son against the russian mafia.

Maybe it want to use real Tokyo building and Japanese actors whose first language is Japanese? There are Die Hard Video games.

Also there are Die Hard manga books.

tokyo drift has scenes that were supposed to be in the US but anyone living in Japan could easily tell it was filmed in the US.

So, Calif has so many movie production companies. In old time, cowboy movies were usually made in C alif. Not only that, many movies now-a-days use animation techniques to create violent scenes for actors/actress scenes, especially out of Calif. themed movies. I often wonder if it is real or animated scenes. If you see Tokyo or Japan, they are usually created by animation techniques, Thanks to Sony Entertainment in USA.

Tokyo themed Die Hard hasn't been created yet and so no one could watch yet to tell where it is produced.
