Norika Fujiwara to reprise role in 'Cabaret'

TOKYO —
Norika Fujiwara will reprise her role in the stage musical “Cabaret.” Fujiwara, 40 has acted in three previous stage musicals, but this is the first time she will return to perform the same role.
Alluding to a desire to support disaster recovery efforts in Japan, she told press, “I want to give everyone a performance that makes them forget about things for a while.”
The next run of “Cabaret” is scheduled to begin on March 2, 2012 at the Tokyo International Forum.
According to promoters, audiences expressed an overwhelming desire for an encore run in surveys given out during the performance’s last run in Tokyo in 2010. Fujiwara described the encore run as a gift from the heavens, and said she is taking specialized vocal training courses once a week in preparation.
“Cabaret” tells the story of a pre-World War II hostess (Fujiwara) in Berlin and her romance with an American novelist, played by Tsuyoshi Abe.

Is it the 1972 cabaret movie?
What role is she playing in "Cabaret". A grandma? I liked it with Liza Minnelli. She was 26 when she played Sally. Not so long ago Fujiwara wanted to be a Bond girl. I think she lost her mind.
That's a relief, it will do. Great! Excellent!
Also could be funny to see Sally speaking and singing in Japanese. It's like Harrison Ford played the role of Toyotomi.
Good anyway, until the audience pays for the ticket, why not?

Grandma? no one has the right call her that, not until you find a younger buxom 5'9" Japanese to replace her.

I went to the first run and it was actually pretty good. Very dynamic, energetic interpretation of the show with great songs. This news broke at least one week ago though and the picture is two years old. Met Norika on many occasions and she has always been friendly and easy to talk with.

@gogogo Come on. Please don't go there. She is a gorgeous woman. Her sagging will come if it not has not already but let's give her as much time as she needs before we start pointing it out.

I think Norika is very well suited for such a role. Tends to over-act which is not good for TV dramas and the like, but is good for the stage where projection is important.
