Actress and singer Noriko Sakai, 42, announced the release of her new mini-album at an event at Tower Records in Tokyo on Tuesday. Sakai, popularly known as Nori-P, also said she hopes to remarry one day.
Sakai said the title tune for the new release, which is her first song in nine years, is a ballad "sung for someone you love," TV Asahi reported. Asked by reporters if there is someone she loves, Sakai said she wishes to move on and have a new relationship. When asked about remarriage prospects, she replied: “No one wants to marry me. It’d be difficult for them if they did."
The event was the latest step in Sakai's return to show business following a drug scandal in 2009 for which she received a three-year suspended sentence for drug abuse. She sang four songs, including her famous song, “Aoi Usagi" (Blue Rabbit). After making a mistake with the lyrics, she joked, “It proves that I am not lip syncing.”

I'm happy she is at least trying again, I really dislike the mentality in Japan that when you make a mistake you must give up your career.

Whether she can sing or not, I do think it's unfair to take away someone's career for something where she did not harm anyone but herself. If Western countries had similar mentalities, over half of the musicians/actors would be out of jobs. Beiber would be long gone so maybe it is a good thing.

No, I don't know who she is. Yes I clicked on this article. Yes, I assume her singing wouldn't crack the top 10,000 of the best of the last 100 years. No, I have no idea why anyone cares if this person remarries. Yes, it is obviously sexist that they would ask that question to any woman (unless she is a marriage counselor by profession?). OK, yes, I'm leaving now.

Jpop has worse singers to be sure, even in the older era she belongs to which, shockingly, had higher standards than they do now. I only know her rabbit song though, which is pretty cute.

people have been bashing Noriko Sakai far too much after her mistake with the drugs. it was only (at most) a few times she has done it. she shouldn't be so victimized by the japanese media for it. i've read comments about fans crying when they read about all this as if they don't like her anymore.
Nonsense! if you are a true fan, you should know that her mistake wasn't a big deal and you shouldn't cast away your feelings for her just like that!
i have and will always always always love Noriko Sakai. her melodious voice reached my heart, even in rainy days when the sun abandoned us. i will always love her.
