NTV broadcasts static for 8 minutes due to glitch

TOKYO —

Nippon Television Network (NTV) broadcast around eight minutes of a static image by mistake on Wednesday night during a broadcast of “Goodbye, Our Kindergarten” due to a technical problem.

An NTV public relations spokesman said that the glitch occurred about an hour into the broadcast of the drama, at around 10 p.m. According to NTV, the image was lost for 11 seconds, following which a static image returned and remained on-screen for
around eight minutes. A message was overlaid onto the image reading, “We apologize for the disruption in this broadcast.”

According to the spokesman, NTV is currently investigating the cause of the problem. In total, it is believed around eight minutes and seven seconds of the show was not broadcast. NTV is planning to repeat the program so that viewers can catch the full episode.

As long as this glitch has nothing to do with the Fukushima radiation mess, I do not care about missing 8 minutes of tv.

It's all due to incompetence. Are they going to blame this on the tsunami too?
