TOKYO —
Actress Aya Ueto, 23, on Wednesday appeared at an event at Tokyo Midtown to raise awareness about drunk driving. Wearing a police uniform, she urged the public not to drink and drive.
Ueto, who got her driver’s license three years ago, said it is hard enough for drivers to keep their wits about them, without being impaired by alcohol. “Whenever I am driving, I always worry whenever pedestrians and cyclists suddenly appear,” she said.
Asked how she spent her birthday on Sept 14, she said, “Although I had the day off, I was at home alone. I cried in bed.”

“Whenever I am driving, I always worry whenever pedestrians and cyclists suddenly appear". I'm more concerned about the drunk ojisans pulling out in their kei-trucks without looking.

She still looks like a cute little seal pup about to be clubbed over the head to me. Those lipstick ads attempting to "sex her up" simply don't cut it. I assume that this public spirited concern about drunk driving is another paying job for Miss Ueto, or is it "charidee" work...?

What a strange tail to the story. Is this more agency 'no, no, our girls don't have boyfriends!' spin?

She said she was alone......this should be in the "crime" category because that is a crime.

OK, what does the last sentence in this article have anything to do with Drunk Driving???? It should not have been reported...she probably needed to drink; oh wait! maybe she was adn that's why she cried.
Also, why did she have to wear a uniform to promote awareness? This seems to be a common thing in Japan.
