The opera "Aida," scheduled to be performed at Tokyo Dome Sept 17-19, has been canceled, promoters in Tokyo said on Wednesday.
A statement to media apologized for the cancellation, which was due to "circumstances" concerning the South Korean companies on the executive committee of the opera.
Some 100,000 tickets for the famous opera had already been sold, according to organizers. Ticket-holders can get a refund by calling the Aida Executive Committee Office at 050-5824-5141 until Sept 30.

I feel very lucky that I've seen "Aida" every summer while I was in Verona, Italy. There is nothing like it. Amazing. Too bad Japanese cannot see this.

Not my favourite opera but stil a good show. Sounds like the Senkakus got a starring role.....

Tokyo Dome would be a poor venue to see an opera.

A wonderful opera with some stunning arias. But the Dome is hardly the right venue. sorry for those who wanted to see it. Better next time.

I saw Aida years ago in Tokyo Dome. Awful sound, poor viewing angles. Wish I could've gotten a refund like these ticket holders!

Totally wrong venue for Opera-Doomed from the start thank to a virulent mix of Political soap opera!
