OSAKA —
The Osaka prefectural government on Tuesday said it has adopted a new meal set for its employees. The meal was originally developed by pop group SMAP when Osaka Gov Toru Hashimoto appeared on their TV program in March. During the program, Hashimoto told SMAP: “I wish to serve it in our cafeteria for our employees.”
The new meal, which costs 700 yen, features udon noodles and Chinese fried rice. Fifty sets are available a day.

Udon and fried rice, huh? I can see why the Smap boys scored their own cooking show!

Hashimoto is supposed to be slashing budgets everywhere, so I wonder how much he is having to shell out to use the SMAP logo and the rest?
Oh, and 700 yen for an employee meal is rather expensive, especially for something as basic as udon rice.
