Italian director Paolo Sorrentino’s latest was considered a slight step below his previous, Oscar-winning film “The Great Beauty.”

I never watched "The Great Beauty", I always had the feeling it was "La grande schifezza"...I mean, it was a terrible movie.

Judging yet another movie as terrible before you've seen it? What's the reason this time? More Chang reviews? All of the four mentioned, and others, sound pretty good to me, though I like the sound of The Assassin best, and Carol least (not because it doesn't sound good, but just that the content doesn't interest me.

Smith, I hope you won't start a rant also here. I'm sorry if I'm different from you, but I often decide what to watch or not based on the premise. And I express an opinion on the premise. Honestly, I had started to watch "La grande bellezza" but it seemed too slow to me, but specially I couldn't stand the mood in general, so I dropped.

I hope you won't say also here I was embarrassed by the movie topic...stop pretending you can know my personal taste and personality. It's a bit disturbing.

Well, if you started watching and couldn't finish, that's a different story. You said "I never watched...", which did not indicate that.

"stop pretending you can know my personal taste and personality. It's a bit disturbing."

Then you went on to ruin your comment. It's pretty clear what your personal tastes are when you flat out state your personal tastes and opinions, Alex. You said, "I never watched," so in this case I was pointing out that you were again judging a movie without having watched it. Now you have said that you started and couldn't finish. That is different, and understandable. But if you say you don't like something, and I mention you said you don't like it, that's not "pretending to know (your) personal taste", it's pointing out what you said, plain and simple.

I never said you were embarrassed about the content of this film at all, did I? Upset about my post, maybe, but not embarrassed about the movie's premise or anything.

@smithinjapan: "I never watched completely The Great Beauty". Fixed. I hope it's okay, now. I hadn't watched more than 15 minutes, so it's basically like I didn't watch it at all. Anyway, explain me how this attitude

is really different from mine. You can't know if the content interests you or not if you didn't watch it. You decided the content doesn't interest you only based on the premise. You can't know if the dialogues, the direction, the acting, the music, etc. would be able to make this movie interesting even though the premise don't sound interest to you. Plus, applying your own contrived logic, you can't say all the movies sound "good" to you only based on the premise. If you didn't notice, it's like to say all the movies sound bad to me. The only difference is an adjective, but you are already judging the movies without have seen them. "It sounds stupid to me" or "it sounds good to me", it's not different. I'm surprised you can't see this simple thing. So, please, stop trying to act superior or something like that.
