Rie Miyazawa among Vogue Nippon Women of the Year and Decade

TOKYO —

Fashion magazine Vogue Nippon held its Vogue Nippon Women of the Year and Decade awards ceremony on Monday, honoring celebrity women who have shone in their professions throughout the past year and 10 years.

Actresses Yu Aoi, 24, Aya Ueto, 24, and Yukie Nakama, 29, were named women of the year, while model Ai Tominaga, 27, actress Rie Miyazawa, 36, and actress Shinobu Otake, 52, won as women of the decade. Other winners included playwright Yukiko Motoya, 30, and veteran avant-garde sculptor, painter and novelist Yayoi Kusama, 80.

Dressed in a slinky black dress, Miyazawa jokingly asked, “So are we in the adult category?” The actress, who just gave birth to her first child in May, continued, “When I look at my daughter, I’m always astonished at how fast we grow up. I’d still like to grow more myself.”

Rie has not been around much since being dumped by the sumo bad boy a long time ago. Really messed her up if I recall. Became anorexic if this is the same girl.

Yelnats -- yes, she had lost weight way too much and got way too thin after breaking up with the Sumo guy.. Still a beautiful girl, though.

I like most Rie’s dress, very descent and classical.

I've seen her on a number of TV dramas the past decade. Yes, she's had the anorexia problem, but, all in all, seems to have been pretty successful with the entertainment career, too. (Ah, memories of Santa Fe. A beautiful woman.)

In the end, I think she probably doesn't regret not marrying Takanohana(da).

I hope she continues to be healthy and happy in all that she does in the future.
