Rod Stewart kicks off Japan tour after 13-year absence

Singer Rod Stewart, 64, kicked off his first Japan tour in 13 years with a performance at the Osaka Castle Hall on Monday night. Stewart entertained the crowd of 6,000 with 21 songs, including popular 1970s hits “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and “Sailing.” Hhis 21-year-old daughter, Ruby, chipped in, singing two songs solo.

Stewart also kicked a signed soccer ball into the crowd, and said that Shunsuke Nakamura, who plays for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League, was a great player and fantastic representative for Japan.

Stewart also revealed before the concert that he may team up with Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Woods, 61, again in the near future. The pair were in a band called the Faces in the early 1970s. Stewart said that it wouldn’t happen this year but that they had been rehearsing and may perform together as early as next year.

Stewart will perform at the Budokan in Tokyo on Wednesday and Thursday, and at the Saitama Super Arena on March 14.

Stweart is a miser and a penny pincher. He charges ridiculous amounts for his second rate has been gigs and treats teh "average" Joe like crap.

A builder at his house had to sue for promised payments afetr Stewart tried to avoid paying the full bill, an all round nasty piece of work, I say boycott his gigs and CD's.

Goals0 - I believe their band was actually called "The Face" not "The Faces". Had Sting on bass. And early Rod was great stuff, his career path of starting from the cutting edge (it was in 1971!) to more commercial stuff was a pretty sharp move. A lesson in how to have a long career, you end up with two groups of fans.

Sorry Rod, I was with Journey last night, in the 5,000-seat capacity Tokyo International Forum Hall-A. 99% of the audience were standing from 7:00PM to 9:15PM. They never took their seats.

Haha.He just played in Australia,where he banned folks from taking photos of him.It seems that the Japanese are still into Rod in a big way,but the feeling isn't mutual.
