Seems controversial seeing as Haley plagiarized.

It will be at least a heavy duty for the producers to remake such amazing masterpiece. Wish luck for them.

Goodness. I hope not. The History Channel is horrible.

Cool. I really did not catch the original back in the day. An updated remake - if done well - could be interesting to see.

I remember the original series. I loved the scene where the elderly Kizzy spits into that cup and offers the drink to a former acquaintance.

What an incredible waste of time! And another pitiful example of US filmmakers lacking in creativity. If any commenters haven't seen the original, do yourselves a favor - find it at your library; there's no way a new version will be any better. That's the screenwriter in me talking - it was required viewing and parsing, when I was learning the craft.

I agree with Trevor Peace. The original was excellent. A remake would likely do a disservice to the original.

They need to make this while James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman are still alive.

Why Morgan Freeman? He wasn't in the original. Re: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075572/fullcredits/
Also, I agree with earlier posts. Not much that can be done to improve upon the original.
