TOKYO —
Actress Ryoko Hirosue, 27, takes on the role of a motorcycle gang leader in her new TV drama “Yasuko and Kenji” which will be aired from July 12 on the NTV network.
Hirosue’s character falls in love with the ex-leader of another motorcycle gang, played by singer Masahiro Matsuoka, 31, but the two always end up fighting. Hirosue said, “I have a sore throat from shouting at him. It’s a real challenge for me to play a tough gang leader.” Matsuoka said, “If I were her manager, I wouldn’t let her play such a nasty role.”

Another brilliant Japanese drama. Who plays the comic relief in this one?

Right. Another believable Japanese drama to go along with the ones where women are police detectives or company presidents.

Settle down guys, just put your imagination to work (or to sleep maybe)...
First we swap commuter trains for motorbikes then we swap business attire for leather jackets and an office for a gang clubhouse but everything else remains the same. It'll be the same as the majority of other dramas we watch, nothing to worry about, move along please.

Despite their struggles and rough appearance, I'm sure they all have hearts of gold - apart from the bad guy, that is.

I think the headline answers this pretty succinctly. I'm laughing already and it hasn't even started yet.

Hmmm - but there's got to be something in it. Not long back it was laughable when Hollywood portrayed women police detectives or company presidents - or female/black USA presidents. The time comes.

It always seems like those dramas go on for way too long. I think they are fixed at 12/13 weeks(?) when actually about 4/6 weeks would be enough for a nice, tight, well timed story.

Tokyogas - try waiting till they are out on DVD and then watching - feels like soooooo long. Like watching all the Matrixes then all the LORs then all the Harry Potter movies back to back
