Naohito Fujiki and Ryoko Hirosue
Wednesday 28th October, 12:15 PM JST
TOKYO —
Actress Ryoko Hirosue, 29, picked up an award at the 10th Best Formalist Awards held at the Imperial Hotel on Tuesday, and wore a stunning backless dress which draped to the floor at the back, said to be designed in the image of a mermaid swimming freely in the ocean.
Hirosue, who reportedly helped design the dress, said she was a bit nervous wearing it due to the open back and revealing front. A reporter asked her if she felt like wearing a wedding dress some time again, and Hirosue said she couldn’t imagine doing so in the near future.
Actor Naohito Fujiki, 37, also won an award and wore a tuxedo, but said: “Actually, I don’t have much in the way of formal attire, so I’m glad to receive this tuxedo.”

He must have won the "best winner of an unnamed award" award. Wonder what he won his award for, as he doesn't really own any formal attire...

"the Imperial Hotel"
That hotel has some good chefs. Someone once gave me some take-out food from the Imperial. Dee-licious!
I want to see the Best Casualist.

She's 29 already? I guess there must be a new drama where she plays a high-school girl in the works...

A form a list is one that takes random facts and puts them together in a random way.

What does this award mean? I have no idea. Even after looking up the word formalist, this still doesn't make sense.
"""formalist for·mal·ism (fôrm-lzm) n. 1. Rigorous or excessive adherence to recognized forms, as in religion or art. 2. An instance of rigorous or excessive adherence to recognized forms. 3. A method of aesthetic analysis that emphasizes structural elements and artistic techniques rather than content, especially in literary works."""
Once again, no connection to actual words and their meanings. Find a new title for this one.

who presented the award? is it the same organization that does all these best-ist awards? Are they a company? Maybe even a tourist attraction?

Where are the other contestants? I sure would like to know who she competed against. Not that I would kick her out of bed for eating crackers, but I would of chosen others.

Probably something to do with formal wear, though I don't think tuxedos and backless dresses showing décolletage count as formal wear.
