Ryoko Shinohara back in public 3 months after having baby

Actress Ryoko Shinohara, 35, was back in the public eye Thursday, looking quite trim three months after having a baby. Shinohara appeared at an event for a human resource company for which she is the “image character.” She hasn’t made any official appearances since last September when she announced a temporary hiatus to give birth to her first baby in May of this year.

Wearing a black one-piece dress, Shinohara said she had lost 7-8 kg after giving birth. “I have had a good rest, almost like a vacation really. I’m happy to back at work, but now my challenge is to find a balance between work and home.”

Asked about her son, she answered: “Many people say my son resembles both me and my husband (actor Masachika Ichimura, 59). I hope he has the best parts of both of us.”

Shinohara will take a little more time off before resuming her film career next spring, said her agent.

no wonder the birthrate is so low in Japan. They treat pregnancy as something to be ashamed of, with women hiding themselves away for months at a time.
