Ryoko Yonekura promises to be even more sexy in 2nd run of 'Chicago'

Actress Ryoko Yonekura, 34, took to the stage after the final screening of Broadway musical “Chicago” at the ACT Theater in Akasaka on the weekend, and announced that she would play Roxie Hart in the second running of the Japanese version to show in June next year.

Set in 1920s prohibition era Chicago, the story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice, and the concept of the “celebrity criminal.” Yonekura, who played the sexy murderess in last year’s Japanese adaptation, said: “I believed we would be doing it again sometime, so I’m just thrilled. I’ll be even more sexy than last time! My cartwheels will be something else as well.”

She finished with a bold declaration: “I am aiming for Broadway!”

Singer and actor Ryuichi Kawamura, 39, will play Hart’s lawyer Billy Flynn, and actor Kenya Osumi, 44 – who played Hart’s lover Fred Casely in the English version just finished – will reprise the role in the Japanese version next year.

Yes "Dubya" she is famous in Japan. Some people have even called her the Angelina Jolie of Japan. She has been in quite a few very successful TV dramas where she often plays a sexy, action character.

Hate to be a stickler but, "more sexy," is poor if not outright incorrect grammar. "Even sexier," is what the line should say.

The more I think about it, the more I am impressed by her dedication to sexiness. Other people would be satisfied with being less sexy, but not her - she puts in the extra effort and then puts it all on the line with a promise to us, the public at large. I think she'll deliver.
