After Robin Williams died, many of his movies in Japanese Amazon went out of stock or were bought up by speculative people, trying to resell them at a higher price. The free market at its finest.

Same exact thing happened after MJ died. Everyone bought albums for high prices and now you can find his albums everywhere for cheap. Bandwagon fans exist for deceased musicians too.

@DaDude, Nice call. Based on the 3 Prince songs mentioned in this article, sounds like some bandwagoners. Way too cliché.

The money flowing in to Prince's estate raises the question of the existence of a will, if everything goes to his sister since he has no spouse or heirs, and what will become of the iconic property Paisley Park. Hope it doesn't turn into a long legal battle and his relatives can sort everything out to their satisfaction.

When George Harrison died I went out and bought "All Things Must Pass" despite already owning a copy (in the UK).

Prince has died, people feel some nostalgia his songs and want to listen to them. It is really so terrible they are buying his music? It's their money and time, stop your sneering.

The Minnesota probate code is reportedly very clear about who gets what. It also apparently treats half-siblings the same as full siblings, so it would be split evenly six ways.

Not just th sales have spiked. A quick check on eBay will show you all his albums and memorabilia have skyrocketed in price. Really crazy things like, posters selling for 2 or 3 thousand dollars. It's quite ironic that he used his talent to make money and now, the scalpers are using his death to make money. Don't buy inflated priced memorabilia! You are just supporting the scalpers!

I must be a 'bandwagoner' for many musicians - living or dead. Does anyone own all Prince's records from his near 40-year career?

Come to think of it, I might download the brilliant 'Dirty Mind' album. The one in my I-tunes was bought over 15 years ago and the sound isn't great.
