Back where she belongs: A habitat of noise
TorafusuTorasan
Ha, this lady is in the entertainment section. I really hope that instead of using her show to attack the administration that she lost an election to, she will hold forth in a fair and balanced manner on topics germane to a broad spectrum of Americans. Maybe she will tell us the juicy details about the Rupert and Wendi divorce, right?

fox news probably does more to keep the democrats in power than any other TV channel
combinibento
And it also keeps Jon Stewart's ratings going through the roof.

Just a noise-maker who will make any noise if there's a dollar in it and she's been well-drilled in what to say. I used to find her idiocy funny, now I just see an irritating, soulless celeb.

Fittingly, in the entertainment section.

Here's an exchange between Sarah Palin and Vice President Biden during the 2008 vice presidential debate:
BIDEN: Well Gwen, where I come from, it's called fairness, just simple fairness. The middle class is struggling. The middle class under John McCain's tax proposal, 100 million families, middle class families, households to be precise, they got not a single change, they got not a single break in taxes. No one making less than $250,000 under Barack Obama's plan will see one single penny of their tax raised whether it's their capital gains tax, their income tax, investment tax, any tax. And 95 percent of the people in the United States of America making less than $150,000 will get a tax break.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
PALIN: I do take issue with some of the principle there with that redistribution of wealth principle that seems to be espoused by you. But when you talk about Barack's plan to tax increase affecting only those making $250,000 a year or more, you're forgetting millions of small businesses that are going to fit into that category. So they're going to be the ones paying higher taxes thus resulting in fewer jobs being created and less productivity.
Now you said recently that higher taxes or asking for higher taxes or paying higher taxes is patriotic. In the middle class of America which is where Todd and I have been all of our lives, that's not patriotic. Patriotic is saying, government, you know, you're not always the solution. In fact, too often you're the problem so, government, lessen the tax burden and on our families and get out of the way and let the private sector and our families grow and thrive and prosper. An increased tax formula that Barack Obama is proposing in addition to nearly a trillion dollars in new spending that he's proposing is the backwards way of trying to grow our economy.
Exactly, exactly.

The scary reality of the U.S. The fact that Sarah Palin was close to being second in command (and possibly acting president if the situation arose) is truly shocking. I still have nightmares.....
JohnBecker
She's probably the sole reason for McCain losing the election. He's not the most lovable politician in the country, but he is respected.
Jimizo
I respected McCain up to the point he allowed this to disgrace the US around the world.
Serrano
"The scary reality is Joe Biden really is second-in-command and possibly acting president if the situation arises.
SushiSake3
I used to respect Sen. McCain - until his desperation to win made him select this clown as his running mate.
History will show that this choice single-handidly threw his campaign under the bus. Oh, and his decision to suspend his campaign and 'return to Washington' to commandeer the finance negotiations or something - and no one wanted to talk to him. I still laugh about this. :-)
Now Sarah has washed up on Fox News again? It must be desperate times for Roger Ailes. He personally slammed her only last year.

lol
Seeing how most liberals get teed off when they hear her name, suggests to me that she is indeed doing something right, because if she weren't, a lot of people wouldn't get all bent out of shape. The angrier the left get, the happier she gets. Classic.
Fox ratings are through the roof now and especially the show the Five is so popular, it's catching up to O'Reilly, so Fox is in very good standing, unlike msnbc that NEVER learn from their mistakes, why wouldn't Ailes take back Palin, she is popular with the Right, she is attractive, she didn't abort her special needs child, she infuriates the left to NO end, Yup, I'd hire her back as well. More power to her.
on TV, but on Talk Radio where conservative radio outnumbers liberal radio by a ratio 10 to 1, Palin will crush the competition, liberals have historically always done bad in radio, they do better in Television, although more people do have access to radio and it's not all Fox.
@Gokai
Actually, there is a reason why for that. Fox was in Japan and Skyperfect wanted it and Fox had an agreement that Skyperfect would pay them a certain amount every month to stream the signal feed, but Skyperfect was scamming people and charging people first ¥500 yen a month to a whopping ¥1000 yen a month just for one channel, Yes, people were paying the fee, but Fox wasn't getting ANY money at the time for the feed, so basically, Skyperfect was getting a Free signal. As a formal employee, I called the Marketing dept. and spoke to the person in charge, she specifically asked me, how Japan can cheat them and more importantly, their customers. At the time, I had little answers, but that was around 2005 Skyperfect made a lot of changes since then, but Fox willingly pulled out of the Japanese market because of this. So Fox at the time was very popular beating out CNN and CNN-J.
yabits
LOL! You have to stop believing the imaginary liberals in your head are real and actually meet some. The Palin track record now is such that the biggest reaction she inspires is laughter and rolling eyes. If she was actually put in charge of something, liberals might get teed, but there's not much danger of that happening.
Yes, there has never been a successful voice that can draw in liberals, telling them how they should think. Conservatives, on the other hand, seem to lap that stuff up.
bass4funk
Hey, Yabits! Most of my family on my mother's side are looney liberals, love them to death, but they are big fruity kool aid drinkers. Yes, to most of the left she inspires laughter as to use the Commander in chief of our Country is the biggest joke ever, not to mention keeping Conservative talk radio alive and growing. By the way, you guys are in charge and look what is happening....I mean, NOT. Sorry, my bad.
Except for Fox, that's right. Name me ONE, just one liberal network that gives equal time to both sides and or at least allows conservatives and traditionalists a platform to view their point of view. If you listen to Liberal or Progressive liberal radio, I can give you example after example of the nastiness and vile over the top beyond rude comments. One of the nicest and I mean nicest guys that I have ever met at Fox was Tony Snow, when he was diagnosed with Cancer the liberal press were calling and hoping for his speedy death and it only got worse after he passed away. How about what that a** of a jerk Bill Maher said, the other day about Palin's child?? That's acceptable for you? What nerve this loon has at attacking physically challenged child. He had absolutely NO right to say what he said! Funny, it's ok for liberals to classify and tell conservatives what they are, even if it is out of pure incompetence!
Jimizo
I find it truly depressing that some on the right just don't see what is wrong with Palin. She dragged down US politics to a level of schmaltzy, populist, tabloid nonsense not seen before. Her interview with Katie Curic is rightly regarded as the worst performance of any politician running for high office. A lack of basic knowledge, regurgitating facts drilled into her in often illogical sequence and a grasp of the English language that made Bush sound eloquent. She and McCain were deservedly and comprehensively routed. I don't want to see this garbage again from either party. A choice between serious, legitimate candidates is good for democracy - leave the heart-warming hockey mom nonsense to brainless dramas or Fox News and don't insult the electorate.
bass4funk
I feel you, I ask myself everyday that exact same question about our President.
SHE dragged down US politics, SHE, Palin??! Omg...wow! I can't believe you just said that.
You mean, how she was suckered punched in that interview? So what's Katie doing these days?
Now you are virtually describing almost EVERY politician, ALL of them.
No one is forcing you. You can always change the channel, its not like Fox is hurting desperately in the ratings.
I totally agree, which is something that we haven't had in almost 5 years and we still have 4 more to go!!!!
Who is dumb, look what a vast majority of Americans re-elected again. The people in America were insulted and duped from the electorate. Transparency my A**!
TorafusuTorasan
We're just trying to enjoy some light entertainment. If you two diehard Palin promoters are still riled up about her leaving politics half a decade ago, then please share it over at the glum environs of "Politics" or "World."
So, tell us Sarah, was the last straw for Wendi Deng finding one too many caribou steak sandwiches in the pantry?

I find it truly hilarious that some on the left insult the woman as soon as her name comes up.

I well tuned-into the press, liberal and otherwise, and what you claim above is false. I mean look at your statement: You make it appear as though the entire liberal press was calling for the person's death.
This is why it is very difficult to have a serious discussion with some folks. They just make stuff up.
And that is part of the problem with so many on the far right, like Palin. Even when caught in obvious ludicrous falsehoods, they just double-down.
Serrano
From the 2008 vice presidential debate:
IFILL ( debate moderator ): Governor, I'm happy to talk to you in this next section about energy issues. Let's talk about climate change. What is true and what is false about what we have heard, read, discussed, debated about the causes of climate change?
PALIN: Yes. Well, as the nation's only Arctic state and being the governor of that state, Alaska feels and sees impacts of climate change more so than any other state. And we know that it's real.
I'm not one to attribute every man -- activity of man to the changes in the climate. There is something to be said also for man's activities, but also for the cyclical temperature changes on our planet.
But there are real changes going on in our climate. And I don't want to argue about the causes. What I want to argue about is, how are we going to get there to positively affect the impacts?
We have got to clean up this planet. We have got to encourage other nations also to come along with us with the impacts of climate change, what we can do about that.
As governor, I was the first governor to form a climate change sub-cabinet to start dealing with the impacts. We've got to reduce emissions. John McCain is right there with an "all of the above" approach to deal with climate change impacts.
We've got to become energy independent for that reason. Also as we rely more and more on other countries that don't care as much about the climate as we do, we're allowing them to produce and to emit and even pollute more than America would ever stand for.
So even in dealing with climate change, it's all the more reason that we have an "all of the above" approach, tapping into alternative sources of energy and conserving fuel, conserving our petroleum products and our hydrocarbons so that we can clean up this planet and deal with climate change.
IFILL: Senator, what is true and what is false about the causes?
BIDEN: Well, I think it is manmade. I think it's clearly manmade. And, look, this probably explains the biggest fundamental difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and Sarah Palin and Joe Biden -- Gov. Palin and Joe Biden.
If you don't understand what the cause is, it's virtually impossible to come up with a solution. We know what the cause is. The cause is manmade. That's the cause. That's why the polar icecap is melting.
Now, let's look at the facts. We have 3 percent of the world's oil reserves. We consume 25 percent of the oil in the world. John McCain has voted 20 times in the last decade-and-a-half against funding alternative energy sources, clean energy sources, wind, solar, biofuels.
The way in which we can stop the greenhouse gases from emitting. We believe -- Barack Obama believes by investing in clean coal and safe nuclear, we can not only create jobs in wind and solar here in the United States, we can export it.
China is building one to three new coal-fired plants burning dirty coal per week. It's polluting not only the atmosphere but the West Coast of the United States. We should export the technology by investing in clean coal technology.
We should be creating jobs. John McCain has voted 20 times against funding alternative energy sources and thinks, I guess, the only answer is drill, drill, drill. Drill we must, but it will take 10 years for one drop of oil to come out of any of the wells that are going to begun to be drilled.
In the meantime, we're all going to be in real trouble.
IFILL: Let me clear something up, Sen. McCain has said he supports caps on carbon emissions. Sen. Obama has said he supports clean coal technology, which I don't believe you've always supported.
BIDEN: I have always supported it. That's a fact.
IFILL: Well, clear it up for us, both of you, and start with Gov. Palin.
PALIN: Yes, Sen. McCain does support this. The chant is "drill, baby, drill." And that's what we hear all across this country in our rallies because people are so hungry for those domestic sources of energy to be tapped into.
They know that even in my own energy-producing state we have billions of barrels of oil and hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of clean, green natural gas. And we're building a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline which is North America's largest and most you expensive infrastructure project ever to flow those sources of energy into hungry markets.
Barack Obama and Sen. Biden, you've said no to everything in trying to find a domestic solution to the energy crisis that we're in. You even called drilling -- safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore as raping the outer continental shelf.
There -- with new technology, with tiny footprints even on land, it is safe to drill and we need to do more of that.

This segment is very interesting and provides a textbook example of the conservative, right-wing attack.
To test this, try a search of the web for what Maher said exactly. Strangely, the only thing you will be able to come up with (at this writing) is a bunch of conservative outrage referencing one conservative blogger who claims that Maher used the word "re-tarded" in a live stand-up comedy show. Readers will also find how Palin bought the allegation completely, and tweeted her wish that Maher be physically harmed.
When reading the quote above, I find it interesting how all this knee-jerk rage comes out over some words supposedly said in a stand-up act -- words that the poster above never verified. This is stupidity in action.
bass4funk
@yabits
You are the absolute funniest person on JT, if ANY of us conservatives say ANYTHING about liberals, we get it wrong, we NEVER get it right. But you guys hit it on the mark every time when you talk about conservatives. Why? Because liberals are just smarter by default. You actually think like that?!
I agree, both sides do it, but liberals tend to go at it at a nastier level. You are such a partisan.
Palin is a conservative, not far-right. Falsehoods is a word by definition that was created by liberals, they have the patent for it.
Didn't our President declare war on Fox News as well as other nutty and childish provocation towards conservative.
WOW! I'm just floored that you actually believe what you just wrote, man.....
I keep forgetting ONLY liberals are allowed to say disgustingly vile and rude comments about a helpless physically challenged child and then try to pass it off as, I was only kidding. But make ANY jokes about the President, you're a racist. And you call what they scum said, a knee-jerk reaction. I don't know about you, but as a parent myself, if someone said, something supposedly jokingly about my child, lets just say, that individual wouldn't be a happy person going forward.
yabits
I take this to mean there is no evidence that the liberal media ever wished Fox's Tony Snow would die soon, and that you were just repeating stuff just made up by the right-wing fantasy machine. Otherwise, why not give an example? (Perhaps because it would clearly not be representative of the "liberal media.")
No. It's just that right-wingers like Palin present such broad and easy targets. It's almost as though they are attaching "Kick Me" signs on their own backs. They are masters at victimizing themselves. Seriously, look at your posts and see how devoid of any substance they are.
Note that there's nothing of any substance in your comment on Palin's reaction to a right-wing blogger's recounting of Maher's use of a certain word. Just emotionally charged nonsense. Readers can easily verify that there is no transcript or quote of Maher's remarks -- just some right-wing blogger who claims Maher used a word. The right-wing blogger also claims that the audience responded with laughter. I'm sure most reasonable people would want to read the transcript and judge for themselves. Readers can also read the tweets sent out by Palin wishing physical harm to Maher. Those, at least, have been recorded.
Any reasonable, decent person would have to read the actual comments and judge for themselves. It's clear that right-wingers let others do their thinking for them. Without knowing what was actually said, some right-winger says they were vile and rude, and the sheep follow right after, including Palin -- who is a master at exploiting her special needs son to get attention for herself.
yabits
Seriously, Farmboy. Maher's remarks, and the audience reaction, occurred within the past week. You've actually presented a link to a 6-year-old video.

Here you go: There are a lot more, a lot more of this. I don't want to side track too much, but there is your proof, whether you want to except it or dismiss it matters not, what matters is, is that it is there and it was disgusting that liberals wallowed in his passing.
Funny, she says something to you it may be stupid, therefore she is fair game and deserves "Kick me" when I am down. But if conservatives make fun of Michelle Obama, or her daughters, we are considered outright racists, intolerant and rude! How dare we say anything bad about the first lady. I'm smelling a big double-standard bias here.
That's how you see it, when liberals talk, I have yet to see some coherent and logical body of writing instead of emotionally charged venomous, ad hominem attacks, which you guys are so well known for.
Note that there's nothing of any substance in your comment on Palin's reaction to a right-wing blogger's recounting of Maher's use of a certain word. Just emotionally charged nonsense. Also, I can give you bunches of examples where Maher is just over the top rude to the Woman. Maher has NO decorum, none and if he doesn't like Palin, that is his right, I don't dispute that, but the nastiness that Maher is so famous for like typical progressive liberal style, don't just insult the people that you hate, obliterate them excoriate them, pound them into the ground and call them every name in the book. This is the narrative that liberals like Maher live by. Why wouldn't anyone think otherwise? This is what Bill does, he attacks conservatives in the most vile way possible, if you don't think so, you are living in the land of Oz. Uneducated and classless. By the way, Palin NEVER wished physical harm on Maher before the incident and why should she? She stayed in her neck of the woods and didn't have to be bothered by the low life, but as soon as he attacked her son, she is doing what ANY mother would do if threaten their child. No one can fault her for that, whether you like her or not. She has every right to defend her child.
What are you talking about, the media put that news out there, liberal and conservative news outlets, it's just that conservatives are more passionate when it comes to children with special needs. Unlike Liberals that think a child with a mental disease should be euthanized.
And our beloved President doesn't exploit ANY situation? Yabits for once, I want to see you say something fair when debating politics instead of being this partisan progressive that cares solely for liberal WH talking points.
yabits
Regarding Snow, you said there were "liberal media" outlets calling for his "speedy death." The HuffPost links are a critique of his career after his passing. You have to be kidding us, presenting the dailyraider as "liberal media." The hammer and sickle on their site suggests otherwise. Some proof.
Deflections to Tony Snow and Michelle Obama are irrelevant to Sarah Palin. As for Maher, he has definitely made very critical remarks about Barack Obama, and has pointed some humor at the First Lady too. He's a comedian and entertainer and not a political figure. His politics are libertarian, and he finds himself disagreeing with liberals and Democrats quite often.
The Huffpost link to Bill Maher/Palin brings no clarification whatsoever to what Maher actually said during his stand-up act.
"Before" the incident? Whatever Maher said is merely hearsay at this point. Palin does not know what Maher actually said, and yet, here she is, wishing physical harm on him. Even if a comedian used a certain word, how does that justify a wish for a violent response? The word is not that offensive -- and certainly doesn't offend Palin's child in any way. (Neither Palin nor Trig witnessed the remarks.)
It is clear that Palin fans have gone FAR off the deep end.
yabits
The link you posted is from 2010. It's quite apt for those who like Palin on Fox, as it actually pokes fun at the Fox viewer. Perhaps you were not able to get it.
You don't appear to be able to read with comprehension. First, I can't defend Maher's recent remarks because I have yet to see them. Secondly, tasteless remarks by comedians are covered by the First Amendment. So are Palin's tweets wishing physical harm to come to Maher. Those who think Maher is at the low end apparently can't expect much better from Palin.
They're right.
Serrano
Well, Palin agrees with U.N. Secretary General Ban that Obama's decision to arm the Syrian rebels, some of whom who are aligned with Al-Qaida-linked extremists, is a bad idea. She says until we get a commander in chief who knows what he's doing, "Let Allah sort it out."
bass4funk
@yabits
Yabits, I'm not going to banter with you, vitriol, is vitriol, I was still employed as a freelance writer for Fox at the time and I remember the nastiness that was coming out of many of the news outlets, yes, there were some liberals that were trying to put on a poker face and to keep it somewhat tasteful, but overall, absolutely not. Most weren't thinking about his wife and kids, they just blurted out obnoxious obscenities. That's the thing liberals do and do best: name calling or worst case, play the race card. When the logic fails fall back on those two and you win the argument....at least for a while.
Deflections to Tony Snow and Michelle Obama are irrelevant to Sarah Palin.
Right, so that gives him the GREEN light to say whatever he wants to say, even if his free speech is in the deep gutter, talking about her kids or anyone else's kids for that matter should be off limits, imagine if a conservative comedian would have said that, the heavens would have collided and the earth would have shifted off its axis.
You don't know the facts either, but yet, you speak for him, whether its "he said it or not," knowing Maher and given his track record over the last 20 years, I personally think he did say it. Either way, she is responding the way ANY mother or parent would, but how about asking other JT readers that have kids how they would feel about someone mocking their physically challenged child or any child for that matter. Again, you would never say what you're saying right now if a conservative would have said it. Your partisanship really shows. You can't even admit allegedly or not, what Maher said, was totally out of line.
yabits
I am not bantering. I read the claim that "liberal media" was calling for the "speedy death" of a former Fox personality. I asked for some proof of that claim and have not seen any yet. Note that the entire "liberal media" was being accused in that statement -- and there has not been a single example of even one person who wished such a thing. In my view, this is yet another clear example of the kind of baseless and egregious slandering and defamation that the right wing so frequently engages in.
His speech is protected by the first amendment. His remarks would have a negative effect if he ever decided to run for office -- but he's not a politician and has no intent on entering politics. He's a comedian and entertainer. It seems quite dishonest -- in other words, par for the course -- that the right wing would want to assign Maher as a spokesperson/symbol for liberals. He certainly does not speak for me, although I find much of what he says to be right on and very funny.
I'm sure he said something. He was doing a stand-up routine and not staring silently at his audience. I would expect a genuine adult not to respond to hearsay, and certainly, if they are mature, to ignore the remarks. What's that old saying from mothers: "Sticks and stones may break by bones...?" I would certainly not wish physical violence on someone over that person calling my special needs child the R-word. I would consider the source and ignore the remark. Palin reacted to hearsay remarks in an extremely immature manner. Again, that is par for the course for her.
She's perfect for Fox.
Graham DeShazo
To call her dumb-as-a-post would be insulting....to the post.

As an outsider observing and following US politics, I have to say Sarah Palin brought a new dimension to US politics, namely, comedy. Never before has a single politician provided so much comic material to feed the entire satirist community.
TorafusuTorasan
I agree that all politicians' underage kids should stay out of the monologues of comedians like Bill Maher. I apologize for being negative about Ron Paul's grandson recently.
But once those chubby babushkas start dancing for dollars on national TV (ahem, Bristol), they are suitable material for comedy. Someone should edit video of Dancing with the Stars with a Sarah Palin audio track, to make it seem like high concept interpretive dance about foreign policy.
@Full
Being a law professor before working your way up the political ranks is pretty dry and boring. Going from being a beauty contestant/TV newscaster/mayor of Wasilla, Alaska to runner up for vice president of the USA sounds like something only a team of sitcom writers would come up with to meet a deadline. She definitely helped SNL's ratings back at her peak.
bass4funk
@yabits
I am not bantering. I read the claim that "liberal media" was calling for the "speedy death" of a former Fox personality.
Which a lot did. I knew Snow, not so well, but I saw what was coming through the wires.
Then you didn't read it properly, I already sent some links, it may not be what YOU want to see and since I'm not longer an employee of Fox, my office and most of my mails have been deleted, but suffice to say, it was rampant. Also, I'm not here to convince you of anything, I'm just telling you and I know what I saw, whether you believe it or not.
Note that the entire "liberal media" was being accused in that statement -- and there has not been a single example of even one person who wished such a thing. In my view, this is yet another clear example of the kind of baseless and egregious slandering and defamation that the right wing so frequently engages in.
You are taking my statement literally and also taking it too seriously.
A moment ago you were doing the same about Palin, the left practically invented the word slander.
His speech is protected by the first amendment.
And so is Palin's, I concur! At least on that we can agree upon.
His remarks would have a negative effect if he ever decided to run for office -- but he's not a politician and has no intent on entering politics.
Tell that to Ashley Judd I'm sure shed disagree with that statement.
No conservative thinks that. Conservatives know that he's a douche! We know that he's a mindless, heartless coward that loves to denigrate kids and especially special needs kids, verbally anyway he can.
I figured as much. I'm just going to not go there, because I know the Mods will delete it. But whatever.
But Ailes, the brilliant man that he his knows full well bringing Palin back will shoot the numbers through the roof. Yes, Yabits, she indeed does belong on Fox.
Serrano
So, yabits, Farmboy, Graham and all the other Palin haters, whaddya think of Sarah Palin agreeing with U.N. General Secretary Ban that President Obama's decision to arm the Syrian rebels, some of whom are aligned with Al-Qaida-linked extremists, is a bad idea?
Serrano
You didn't answer my question, Farmboy.
TorafusuTorasan
The Palin pitiers are waiting to see if embracing the UN is a one time gimmick. If Palin is consistent in following the advice of the UN for the next few years, then you might get me to vote for her... as ambassador to the UN.
lucabrasi
@Serrano
She's probably confusing Syria with Siberia. Difficult for a normal person, but an easy mistake for a mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging chimp.
Serrano
luca - You know deep down Palin is not confusing Syria with Siberia. I know it's difficult to admit, but try anyway.
lucabrasi
@Serrano
Give her a map of the world and a pointer. Five goes to locate Syria. Not going to happen, is it?
TorafusuTorasan
Since Serrano likes probing questions, isnt it strange for a member of the party that refused to pay Americas UN dues, prompting Ted Turner to cut an eight figure check, now freeloading on their recommendations? To come from Tea pitier Palin, it seems fishy.
lucabrasi
This is what gets me about right-wingers. I bet she's a wonderful mum, and a lovely, caring wife.... yet she has these utterly deranged views on morality and society. WTF is wrong with these tea-party people??
TorafusuTorasan
Well, considering the guy that is responsible for putting Palin on the national stage, John McCain, speaks in favor of arming the rebels, and he has decades of experience in the senate compared to Palins two or three years in state government, I wonder if her support ofthe UN is just a jab at the man she thinks cost her the vice presidency (Mccain).
Serrano
Tora - Palin is not freeloading on U.N. Secretary General Ban's comments on Obama's decision to arm Syrian rebels, which could result in Al-Qaida-linked extremists receiving U.S. arms. She merely agrees on this point. So you agree with McCain and Obama, and disagree with Palin and Secretary General Ban on this point, is that right?
yabits
Well, there we go.
Until I determine the person is a comedian, or some other form of joker, I do tend to take their words at face value in an attempt to determine if they know what they are talking about.
And that brings up the interesting contrast and comparison between a bona fide comedian like Maher -- who conservatives take all too seriously and literally -- and Sarah Palin, who, if anyone tries to take seriously, becomes a source of tremendous comedy.
It's like that guy in the insurance commercials who plays a character called "Mayhem." In one of them, he stands at the top of a stairs and falls down backwards. On the screen, in small print, are the words "Professional stuntman. Do not attempt." Perhaps when Palin and other conservative folks show up on the screen, Fox should print the warning, "Professional clown. Do not take literally or seriously."
TorafusuTorasan
Serrano, to answer your question, I agree with anyone like Ban Ki Moon who calls for arms reductions and peace talks. But why do I have the nagging feeling that Palin is not so much advocating for the Syrian people as she is chiming in on the eve of her return to boost her shows ratings? Sorry, just too cynical to be able to see her maturing into an international humanitarian. The second incarnation of Mother Theresa would not spend her days at Fox or any other TV studio picking at the catering and gabbing with the manicurist.
Jimizo
Does anyone seriously think that this insular, half-witted clown either knows or cares about what is going on in Syria? Can you see Syria from Alaska? Since being a major factor in McCain's comprehensive rout in 2008 ( why more Republicans aren't furious at their own party for this debacle is beyond me ) she has spent her time making money largely by appealing to people who cannot see why the electorate emphatically rejected this insult in the first place. For the sake of sanity, please put this nonsense behind us let her attend exorcisms or spout off to slack-jawed yokels at mega churches. The US is not a banana republic.
bass4funk
I see and look at the state of affairs in the US and Europe! It's a total and complete mess. When liberals take the helm of power they always think they can do a superb job and they do at destroying it! When Bush introduced the Patriot act, Biden was against it, now the he's VP, he's telling us not to worry about the NSA, DOJ, IRS. As always, liberal logic amazes me
This should show how misguided You guys are. You guys are THE biggest hypocrites, lets take a look, shall we?

So basically, when a Republican spies on us it's a crime, when a liberal spies on us, it's to keep us safe.

People like Sarah Palin are the reason why the rest of the world dislikes the US so much.
vukodlok
Why is Japan Today giving this American Ustashe free publicity? Fake (Fox) News is nothing but a Fascist propaganda machine.
TorafusuTorasan
Yes, those are thorny ethical issues that Bass wants us to consider rather than historians of the future. But anytime you and Serrano want to drop the pretense and chuckle along with the rest of the world when Sarah tells Jeb Bush that she is just as fertile as any immigrant, then you might get more people to enter your debates about the mission of the NSA, DOJ, the IRS, and any other government agencies that irk the profund pundit Sarah Palin.
TorafusuTorasan
Is this the first rumbling of the 2016 GOP primaries?
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) knocked former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and his recent comments on immigration while speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's annual conference.On Saturday, Palin criticized Bush for saying the future of America's economy depends upon immigrants in part because they "are more fertile" and create more businesses than native-born Americans."I say this as someone who’s kind of fertile herself," Palin said.

It appears although the BIG MOUTH has come out of Hibernation., Damn....

Sadly, this means the credibility of Fox will actually increase.

@yabits
Not everyone thinks like you, everyone loves a good joke, but there is a time and place for it and decorum. When it comes to attacking defenseless little kids, I think the line should be drawn somewhere, heck, conservatives can't make Obama jokes without the left coming unglued, because that would make us racist and unpatriotic. FREE SPEECH doesn't mean a free pass and a green light to do whatever you want. Legally, You can't yell fire in a crowded room.
And that brings up the interesting contrast and comparison between a bona fide comedian like Maher -- who conservatives take all too seriously and literally -- and Sarah Palin, who, if anyone tries to take seriously, becomes a source of tremendous comedy.
First of all, conservatives DON'T take Maher serious, just his stupid nonsense, childish, ad hominem attacks. Real comedians don't need to attack women, gays, minorities, kids and religion to a vile point in order to be funny. Maher is the embodiment of what he is trying to convey to people and that is he is a selfish, pompous insensitive jerk for saying what he said, even allegedly, it was totally uncalled for. On the other hand, liberals take Palin very serious, she embodies everything the left HATE from being Pro-Choice, NOT aborting her physically challenged son, loves guns, loves to hunt, loves God, loves religion, hard working, independent, goes toe to toe with Washington, energizes the Republican base, that means, she always can get a crowd fired up. So, yes, liberals take her very seriously, because she represents everything that liberals hate so much and that is very serious.
I think the same way about our commander in chief, minus the Professional for him the sign word should be replaced with "Amateur."
@Jimizo
Does anyone seriously think that this insular, half-witted clown either knows or cares about what is going on in Syria? Can you see Syria from Alaska?
I don't think Palin would arm the Syrian rebels, that is something "she can see" a mile away what the repercussions ultimately could result from this action.
So you guys are proud of Biden?????
With the whole IRS, DOJ, NSA debacle going on, you would tend to think otherwise.
@oginame
Many countries in the world don't like the US because of their own inadequacies, and shortcomings whether its socially or financially, it's always the US fault. When I hear people say that, show me a country that is a utopia and blemish free of any wrong doing and that is perfect and the answer is none. Has nothing to do with Palin.
@mito
Increase?! Credibility is already high. The ratings are already throw the roof and adding Palin will make that number higher.
@vukodlok
Fascist?? Good heaven, How so?

bass4funk: "So basically, when a Republican spies on us it's a crime, when a liberal spies on us, it's to keep us safe."
All you did was flip the exact thoughts of right wingers.
As for Palin going back, no surprise -- FOX never has had any standards, and this proves it more than ever.
bass4funk
@smith
I didn't flip anything, just exposing the typical liberal bias that liberals are known for. A Republican does something for the safety of the country, it's a bad thing, but when the Democrats do it, it's seen a a good thing. What a bunch of horse****!
That's your opinion, Smith, apparently, Americans that watch news don't agree with you. Now msmbc, on the other hand you are most certainly right by those allegations?

Palin causes a stir because, like Michelle Bachmann, she's a dumb person in a position of power and influence that projects ignorance to people who don't know any better. That quote about "Allah" sorting out Syria...very progressive. Does she realize that's her god, too?
CrisGerSan
Sorry i doint have time to read all of this exchange, it looks interesting. Palin is the dumbest person I have ever seen in public affairs in the US and i have seen a lot. She is without doubt basically without intelligence and parrots the conservative line ... i am NOT a liberal myself, in fact i detest the current liberal cant and game playing going on, but she is a horror beyond belief. I am sad that Fox has lowered itself to try to drag her back into the spotlight and expect it is soley for ratings. Fox has good and bad, the good is the side of the news that is worth hearing that the liberal media wont touch, bad for the idiotic attacks just out of far right mindedness...like them trying to label Snowden a traitor when he has been one of our biggest heroes for liberty since Elsberg. But Palin, please God, please keep her in the fringe and off of my screen.
oginome
Other countries don't like the US because of its war-mongering foreign policy and its distasteful habit of invading sovereign nations and creating wars. Has nothing to do with these other countries own 'shortcomings'. Please try and keep up. Palin epitomises this ugly, dangerous aspect of US thinking, the idea that the rest of the world is fair game for America's bombs and armies to take over. Disgusting.
Jaymann
Fox news is some of the best comedy going. It is brilliant that GOP have their own propaganda opinion channel. I can sometimes watch for whole minutes before I retun to real news elsewhere. I wonder if the low-brow republican masses will flock to watch Palin.... sweatpants and bucket of chicken wings,...six-pack of Bud. Classic stuff!

@oginome
If you are referring to Iraq, we had every right to go in, I'm not even going to do this and leave it at that. I was there, I was reporting at the time working for NBC. You are 100% wrong.
Moving on..
I do and Yes, Europe, always has this, we are the epitome of the world, so we know what's right and how everyone thinks. We are the nations of entitlements, so the US has to follow lock step and be like us, even though we technically dependent on the US.
For liberals and progressives, I think you are totally right.
@habid
oginome
You had no right to go in and invade a sovereign nation. The US does not have some divine right to go invade any country it wants. This is the arrogance I'm speaking about.
If Europe has this 'we're the epitome of the world' then it would have invaded the US by now, just like your country does in the belief that the American way is the only way. The 'nations of 'entitlements', entitlements aren't what led the EU into the mess its in now, the countries that continue to have the strongest economies also have the most robust social safety nets, it was reckless lending from the banks that caused the chaos.
So 'progressives' is negative word in your dictionary? Says everything.
habidaccus
So...she's right to refer to her own god by a different name? Okay, maybe, but the question remains whether or not she knows there is no difference between who she worships and who Muslims worship, or not. I'm going with the latter.
Whether or not my suspicions are correct, all her comments do are promote ignorance anddivisiveness.

@oginome
Sorry, but yes, we did. Bush unlike Clinton ( he just went and bombed Kosovo to try and get Milosevic) went to the UN to ask to draft up the article resolution 1441 in hopes that Iraq would comply with the IAEA to allow inspections of his weapons facilities and to avoid having to be forced to avoid any military conflict by the US but Saddam violated it 14 times and we were not going to take at that point a wait and see attitude from a man that could possibly harbor weapons and allows in his country terrorists to train, NOT an option. Bush followed protocol and went in and neutralized the threat. We don't need anyone's permission to defend ourselves and personally, I could give a fig whether ANY European likes us or not. We're not begging for Europe to embrace us.

Considering how they have been running the US and Europe...Yup.
@jayman
Sorry, it's not Fox, if you want propaganda, go to msnbc, I worked for its parent company NBC news 12 years and if you want to what real propaganda is Phil Griffin is the poster child of it, I saw it, lived it, know the politics inside and out of that corporation. Fox was shorter, but I saw more fairness and integrity than any other liberal outfit that I worked for. I didn't have to fabricate or stretch a story, just for ratings. Contrary, to what many people think, There are a lot o liberals that work for Fox, a lot of them! So NO, it is NOT a propaganda channel, do they tilt a bit left, yeah, a bit, but you have only one channel that is devoted to allow conservatives to have a voice, ONE. Before Fox, conservative, libertarians and traditionalists, didn't have a voice at all, most just talk radio and how is that fair?? There are many sides to the political spectrum, not only liberal and progressives.
Palin, does draw huge crowds that is something she does well, it pisses off the left to see her, when you resort to calling someone ad hominem names constantly, it means on a subconscious level, the person pisses you off. She is doing her job. But at least, she is being watched, unlike our President that pretty much no one is watching these days...even with a six pack.

As a country that posed an existential threat to us, they did.
I feel the same way about Europe.
We don't think that, again, stop with the childish US is treading on us crap.
The UN can't even properly define what "terrorism" is and you think we are going to seek permission from a group of nations that doesn't have any teeth and bark and ask, may we please protect ourselves, that would never happen. So once again, Yes! We had every legal right.
Yes, I remember it all too well!
As far as Iraq is concerned, We wanted to do it the diplomatic way, many politicians told Bush going to the UN was a waste of time, he thought otherwise, he didn't want to do it the way Clinton did it in Kosovo. But looking back, it was a mistake to involve the UN. In the end, it didn't matter what Europe thought.
No, that's quite alright, I made my point, if you don't see it, then you choose not to. You can lead the horse to the water, but you can't bash it's head in to make it drink.
Again, you choose not to read the obvious and that is alright, I don't expect any different from liberals, not at all. And Yes, you are right the economic collapse happened under a Republican President and under that Presidents Housing committee which was run by two Democrats: "Barney Frank and Chris Dodd"
http://www.economist.com/node/21547784
Look at the population in the Scandinavian countries, it doesn't even come close, yes, it might work there, but to have a giant social welfare apparatus in the US will NEVER, EVER work, it's NOT even working in most of Europe or look at the GDP in Europe, it's a joke, There are other ways we can change the social welfare system without bankrupting the system or snatching people's income (income redistribution) France, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, I don't want my country to be another Nanny state, where the economies are out of control and people start rioting, we are getting there quickly and that is something that I dread. I'm a capitalist bone through and I want to see a vibrant Private sector emerge, NOT government sector. The economy will never grow that way, in ANY country. @Altruist
Many of us feel the same way about the man in office now. But I have to agree, Palin is a nightmare for the left and they are slamming their heads on the table as to how this could happen. So I think the jokes on them. "Just when you thought she was out....they pull her back in."
@habid
We don't need help, it seems to piss liberals off and I am loving it, because I have the utmost respect for the woman and her achievements. What's NOT helping our country is the person in charge throwing and wasting our money, that is what is really not helping.
Let me explain something, all news use catchers or sensationalism to a point a story to entice and to get the viewers interested. Remember, news is a ratings business, always in every free democratic country. Some choose to ignore serious stories like Benghazi, which is most of the liberal media which is deceitful towards the families especially and is a form of denial or selective propaganda, you can spin it like that as well. Bringing back Palin is great news all around and she will be great and can't wait to see her shed light on this darkened WH.
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-coverage-almost-entirely-opinionated-while-fox-news-includes-more-factual-reporting-study-says/
As a person that worked for both networks, I can honestly say, that is absolutely true.

One of God's greatest unanswered prayers. Fox and Palin deserve each other, backing a losing demographic that mirrors Murdoch. White, bigoted and thankfully past fertility.

I think Tina Fey made a better Sarah Palin than the actual Sarah Palin. LOL
