Sho Aikawa, left, and Yukina Kinoshita
Tuesday 11th August, 02:00 PM JST
TOKYO —
Actor Sho Aikawa, 48, and celebrity Yukina Kinoshita, 21, attended a special preview of “Taken” in Tokyo on Monday. The action thriller stars Liam Neeson, 57, who plays a father trying to track down his abducted daughter in Paris.
Aikawa joked that he was about the same age as Kinoshita’s father, and being a father of five kids himself, went on to talk about the anguish parents go through. “Parents are always worrying. Girls, please give your folks a quick call before you go out,” he said, appealing to the young females who were invited to the screening.
Kinoshita said that her father was particular about formalities. “My father is a real worrier as well, so my boyfriend has to behave properly in front of him,” which was seen as a message to comedian Toshifumi Fujimoto, 38, who Kinoshita is currently dating.
“Taken” (titled “96 Hours” in Japan) opens in cinemas on Aug 22.

Aikawa... Kinoshita's boyfriend could be about the same aga as Kinoshita's father.

Guess there were no real father and daughter pairs available, so they had to fake one? Only in Japan does that make sense, and get press coverage.

It was a good movie. I think Transporter 3 is coming this month as well. This really late for both movies.

This has nothing to do with the movie, but I am incredibly jealous of Yukina's hair. sigh Why must I be afflicted with curls that turn to piano wire in the humidity?

GREAT movie and should be required viewing for all girls/women between the ages of 17 - 25 (17 - 30 if they're Japanese women...)
What's with the title??? I know a lot of titles don't translate well but even a bad student of English understands "Taken."

96 Hours was how long he had to find his daughter, right?
And Taken was the name of a TV series from the US about alien abductions (I think.) It would have caused grief in the video stores to have the same name.
There are Father/Daughter geinou-jin around but would anyone really take e.g. Sekini Tsutomu and his daughter seriously as an action hero? At least Aikawa Sho has a tough guy image. Well, tough guy for Japan.

I really enjoy Show Aikawa as an actor -- he's exceptionally personable, talented and versatile (i.e., "Rainy Dog"; "Dead or Alive 2: Tôbôsha"; "Zebraman," etc.)... I'd like to see him promoting his own work; he deserves many more challenging and interesting roles.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film when I watched it at the cinema in England over a year ago. In fact I enjoyed it so much that I bought the DVD in May. Liam Neeson does a very good job indeed of portraying what every father would like to do to every sweaty youth who gets too close to his daughter. That said, I don't think I'll be spending 1800 yen to see it at the cinema here.

Check out the discount ticket shops. Might be able to find the ticket for 1200-1500 yen.
But, it probably isn't worth that price either. Worth a 300 yen rental from Tsutaya when its available.

It is free from the internet.

When Japanese make a show about the sex-slave industry it's usually in cartoon form, and the heroes are the slavers "breaking" the women...
