Why didn't they just leave Archie alone instead of creating this Archie as adult series? Not excusing Australia's leap back for humankind at all, which is disgraceful.

'The comic book ban comes in the face of rising tensions between Singapore’s religious conservatives and its growing gay-rights lobby.'
I find prosecuting consenting adults for what they do in the bedroom disgusting. I've never understood religion's very unhealthy and suspicious obsession with sex.

They did - this is a spinoff. Australia?

Singaporean cultural micromanagers strike again. How pathetic. Let people make their own decisions on what they want to read, and their own decisions on with whom they wish to form relationships.

lostrune: I wasn't being specific as to who did what -- I meant everyone, and that includes spin-offs.

Never read Archie so no idea who he is, but I saw a cover showing some bloke being shot... if that's Archie then does that mean this title is ending? Maybe that's why they're throwing in the gay marriage thing... you know, go out on a double-whammy.
Personally I find social realism in comics rather boring. Comics are meant to be an escape from the drudges of reality, taking you to new worlds and new wonders. I'll stick to my reprints of TV21 and Dan Dare thanks.

Singapore is the very definition of a 'benevolent' dictatorship. It's absolutely amazing how much of a free pass it gets in global media.

Banning homosexuality in comics derives, perhaps, from a belief that exposure to the idea of homosexuality causes it to spread, like a disease?
