Singer Anri breaks off engagement to American guitarist

TOKYO —

Singer Anri, 46, this week announced on her official blog that she has broken off her engagement to American guitarist Lee Ritenour, 56. She says in the blog, “I still intend to continue my music activities at my own pace.”

One insider said the break-up came because Ritenour wouldn’t make a commitment on getting married. The two announced their engagement in 2005, and Anri has a house in Los Angeles.

    Hmmm... I can understand her getting a bit fed up if her other half wasn't committing to actually getting married.

    Mr Zaichi and I have been engaged for three years without setting a date. The paperwork for getting married is just a bit too complex for us (one divorce certificate in Russian, the other in Japanese) and we're just too lazy and disorganised :-)
