TOKYO —
Singer Aya Matsuura, 21, will appear in a new musical “Honkie de Only You,” which features singer Mariya Takeuchi’s songs to mark the 30th anniversary of her debut. Matsuura will play a 27-year-old woman who has just broken up with her boyfriend. Matsuura said, “The songs I will sing in the musical are all Takeuchi’s. But I would like to sing them as if they were mine.”
The musical will run at PARCO theater in Shibuya from September 12 to October 5.

Not bad looking, decent singer. But the title of the musical sounds a bit racist.

I don't think many people will agree with you rjd. She has a nice face, but carries a lot of puppy fat and definitely couldn't sing to save to her.

Here we go again, another one of those talentless Japanese entertainers being lionized in the media.

I'll have to disagree with the naysayers. Being a fan of Hello! Project, I'm well aware that there are a few of the talents there that actually can't sing that well. Aya Matsuura is definitely a talented singer & her longevity & rankings prove this...IMO. She can also act, too. Yo-Yo Cop Girl was highly entertaining & she did a fine job there.

I find the use of "longevity" to describe a 21-year-old singer to be very entertaining in itself.

Seven successful years in the music business is a long time. And someone who has performed with jazz greats like Yosuke Yamashta or Hino Terumasa can't be that bad :-) Btw I wonder what Yamashta thinks about the fact that his name is potentially offensive. Lol
