Singer Daigo, actress Keiko Kitagawa tie the knot

Rock singer Daigo, 37, and actress Keiko Kitagawa, 29, have announced their marriage. The pair attended a packed news conference in Tokyo on Monday afternoon.

At the news conference, there were 45 TV cameras and 210 reporters. A gold folding screen and three different colors of roses decorated the stage.

Daigo, who is the lead singer for Breakerz and the grandson of former Prime Minister Noboru Takeshita, said he proposed to Kitagawa last August right after he finished taking part in NTV's "24-Hour Television 38" 100-kilometer charity marathon, Sankei Shimbun reported.

After the event, Daigo said he handed Kitagawa a box that had an engagement ring in it and a note saying "KSK" which stands for "Kekkon Shite Kudasai" (Please marry me). Kitagawa said she instantly understood what he meant by "KSK" and got really nervous.

The couple announced their engagement in October.

Monday was the second anniversary of the beginning of their relationship which began when they started filming a TV show in 2014. They had first met in 2011 when they both appeared in the TV drama "LADY - Last Crime Profiling."

Since Kitagawa said that her favorite number is 1, they registered their marriage at the ward office at 11:11 a.m. on Jan 11.

So her favourite number now must be 11.? Otherwise they should have registered on 1st January at 01:00am..

? You started off on dodgy ground and then threw a complete curveball! Not that a dead straight guy like you has anything bent...

What's with all the sniping at Daigo? Macho males on JT suffering from envy cos he got de pretty girl?

Ladies, gay and bi, what do you think about Daigo?

I'm neither gay nor bi, only got the straight lady perspective, for what it's worth..... He's not really my type, but I'm strictly a one-man girl, so most men who are not Mr Cleo are not my type. I'd prefer Daigo to the in-your-face macho type, might be fun to spend an afternoon with. We could talk about dogs.

"the grandson of former Primer Minister Takeshita Noboru". That is one path to fame, whether you have talent or not.

What , no pregnancy announcement to acomply this news?

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Alistair, if their engagement (in August last year) and now marriage was due to a pregnancy, Kitagawa would probably be showing by now.

Yeah, I know... I had a brainfart and posted before checking everything through (including the word accompanying ).

I wish there was an edit feature, second thoughts, mods, delete my post. You'll be more than justified, this time.

Good on him for not taking that path.

He looks like he's 22 years old. enough hair color and makeup can do that to most his age

YAWN!!!!

I'm happy for them, they are both sweet and a bit naive, I hope their lives are filled with love, laughter and happiness.

I love it when people act like "this is not news" (pointing at you sandigoluv) but they take the time to post, if it's so not news why are you even here. It's so easy not to click on the link.

I don't think Takeshita Noboru was ever known for being much of a rock singer?

And if Daigo were to run for office, while the LDP old guard who supported his grandpa might vote for him just because of who his grandpa was (as per Koizumi, Obuchi, Abe, Fukuda, Hatoyama, etc.), I very much doubt they're the ones buying his records or going to his concerts.

@sandiegoluv

YAWN!!!!

So let me get this straight. You read the headline (which explains the story perfectly), decided you weren't interested, then went to the effort of clicking the article and writing a negative comment?

Why?

I always wonder about people like this too. If it doesn't interest you, don't read it. Websites judge interest by click levels - if no one clicks on a story, they are going to post less stories of that type. So by posting 'yawn', the poster is only helping to ensure that more such stories will come about.

Actually, the YAWN comment was not meant. My apologies. I really did not mean to post it. I thin the same way as you guys.

I don't think Takeshita Noboru was ever known for being much of a rock singer? No, but his name is like a brand image, siblings/relations of famous people find it much easier to find fame when they can get a free ride on mum, dads , grandparents coat tails. One reason I have more respect for people who become rich/ famous when they do it entirely on there own, through sheer talent or determination
