Kumi Koda appears in P&G’s ad.
Monday 05th May, 07:00 AM JST
TOKYO —
P&G said on its official website that it has started to use singer Kumi Koda, 25, for TV ads of its shavers for women again. Koda, who had suspended her activities since she told a radio program on Jan 30 that “women over 35 had ‘rotten’ fluid in their wombs,” started a nationwide tour in April 12.
After Koda made the offending remarks, her agency, Avex Entertainment, announced a halt to promotional activities for her latest album, “Kingdom,” which was released at the end of January. Kose Corp, Japan’s third-ranked cosmetics maker, halted online advertisements for its Visee brand, one of its major lineups, which features the pop star.

timsaies, I'll disagree with you on one Avex singer: Katase Nana. I liked her music. But she's not currently singing (moved on to acting), so maybe you weren't counting her.

God, you people are bitter. Damn right, I have to work hard for my meagre living and these gits are lapping up the cream for nothing. Of course I'm bitter.

I think alot of you are just plain nasty. Koda Kumi is no beauty (by JP standards) but from what I understand she's made it quite public that she's always had a complex about her looks. As to singing voice, listen to the ballad AISHO. That raspy crappy voice is perfect. As to her showing off her bod, go for it. They all do over her, it's no big deal.

What's the deal about her looks. I agree with most; she is nothing to write home about unlike so many non-famous Japanese females. No one is saying anything here on what she said. If anyone is being cruel I must say it was her to come out and say such nasty things about women that in 10 years she will be. Her youth won't last her.

Not sure if a "talent" improves the sales of a product they're pimping. If they indeed do, the Japanese consumer should then let their opinions be known at the cash register and refrain from buying anything that Kumi Koda is associated with. They need to send a message via their pocketbook that Koda's comment about older women is unacceptable.

Betting and others, you forget that there's a commonality amongst these posts/posters. This has nothing to do with Koda saying stupid things or the like. It's a fact that every time there's a news thread about a Japanese female entertainer or celebrity like Koda-san, there are multiple posts about how empty headed they are, how stupid they are, lack of talent, etc. etc. etc. Just like that, on auto pilot, the mysoginists here vent out their frustrations on Japanese women, the entire entertainment field, and Japanese society in a condescending manner. As if entertainers in other countries are famous for their "talent" vice looks. It doesn't matter what the JP female says, it's pure animosity. I rest my case.

Sure, RJD. And on the last Britney Thread we all nominated her for the Mensa Society.

So sorry to insult this genius of the entertainment industry who opens her gob and shoves both feet in. I think what she said illustrates amply how empty headed, self centred and ignorant the wee tramp is. Being married to a Japanese woman who is worth a hundred tramps like Miss Koda, makes your comments about being a mysoginist who dislikes Japanese females a bit redundant. I think it IS frustrating to watch Japanese TV, (if you can bear it), and be bombarded with trivia and talentless goons hamming it up and getting paid extremely well for their paltry efforts. Of course there are inane programmes and crap 'tarento' in every country but we are in Japan so we are commenting about the quality of the products here.

I think we're all glad you've rested your case. Thank you for doing that.
Kumi Koda is a very lucky girl, with mediocre looks and very little talent. People like her should not make idiotic coments like she did that were so offensive to Japanese women. Kumi is so devoid of any ability that she shouldn't be drawing attention to herself in negative ways. If it wasn't her it would be someone else of the same ilk, that's just the truth of it.
But she remains a talento and a poster girl, and the companies are supporting her again. Good for you Kumi; just keep your stupid mouth shut and the cash will keep coming in for a couple more years before you sink into obscurity.

rjd jr, you talk about animosity, you're full of it yourself. The only thing you talk about is how foreign people have it in for KK without looking why we are in this position in the first place. Rest your case? Good, and you might buy a theosaurus too, something to help you mix up your vocab use.
Anyway, people here are not venting their frustrations on Japanese females if you actually read the posts in their entirety. Do you understand what societies become if we constantly forgive this kind of behaviour (that making such inconsiderate statements and then forgiving them)? The whole of society will just become a place for the bullies to prosper and be allowed to prosper by people such as you.
