LostinNagoya
I just hope they don't use the awful CG they used in the episodes I, II and III and return to maquetes and miniature used in IV, V and VI - which were much more realistic. I remember how awesome it was to watch the war ships in the battles in the space, and how disappointing and ridiculous was to watch the CG creatures and environment created in computers.

LostInNagoya yes but I doubt this will ever happen again. CG is so much cheaper and convenient today for making movies, regardless how it just doesn't look as good or seedy on the screen. Back then in the late 70s/early 80s was this crew of guys who created all the distinct miniature stuff and special effects for movies like Blade Runner, Alien, Empire Strikes Back, and it has this distinct, seedy and organic feel to it that to a large part made the movies of that era so great. I doubt anyone will ever get back to making movies like that. Ridley Scott didn't with Prometheus and certainly Disney wouldn't go that way.

of course, with JJ Abrams I'm guessin there will be less use of CG, but Lucasfilm as a company are the kings of CG... who will win? I realized now that's the thing that has been bothering me when they annpunced JJ Abrams...
I thought he did an excellent job with "Star trek" but somehow I can't think of the combination Disney-George Lucas-JJ Abrams. :)
