Sugiura, Mifune tout benefits of mineral water

TV personalities Taiyo Sugiura, 30, and Mika Mifune, 28, this week attended a seminar and publicity event named “Papa Mama
Meeting” for the mineral water brand I LOHAS, which is distributed in Japan by Coca-Cola.
The event was organized to encourage parents to provide mineral water for their children. Mifune, who has a 6-year-old daughter, said, “I used to use tap water when cooking, but now I’m going to try to use mineral water for the sake of my children. This event is about
safety and peace of mind.”
Sugiura then impressed the audience by preparing milk and feeding it to a baby belonging to an audience member. “If dad helps out with raising the kids, the jobs get done in half the time. That leaves you more time to be a couple in the evenings,” he said.
Mifune also said that while a bottle was not bad, her husband had announced his desire to create a man’s feeding bra which would use tubes to deliver milk to infants. “If we ever manufacture such a thing, I think it’d really sell,” she joked.

Mifune should check out the difference between tap water and mineral water.
If it is true mineral water - with extra salts and sulfurs appearing naturally - then it is going to be expensive. If it is modern mineral water, then she's using carbonated tap water. The extra carbon dioxide added to her tap water is ... beneficial?
Coca Cola's tap water is regulated by the same government agency that regulates our home tap water but Coke then adds the carbon dioxide. Cheaper? No. Better? No. Healthier? No. Contains Feel-Good factor? Yes.

I only buy imported mineral water which I know is not contaminated by radioactive particles. I use it for cooking, washing veg, drinking, brushing teeth. Not wasting water is a bit of work, and it is expensive but at least I have peace of mind we are not drinking caesium or iodine 131.
I would never buy this brand - it is just tap water, which has been filtered and bottled as far as I can see, and probably Japanese in origin.

Coca Cola is using it's US style scare tactics to try and scare mothers into buying mineral water. This is sick and disgusting marketing by Coca Cola.

Borscht: You are completely right. Additionally this Coco-cola campaign is in direct opposition by many local Japanese governments to promote their tap water.

Is it usual for babies to attend seminars/promotional events? Maybe if they're staged. In any case, boo to Coca Cola for pushing tap water on babies.

GREENWASH!! Eco-friendly imagery on an eco-devistating product. When many western countries and cities are having back to the tap campaigns as they become more aware of the crassness of buying water transported around the globe in bottles, Japan is following way behind and following the bottled water culture.

I LOHAS is the mineral water equivalent of poo. I buy Korean mineral water (bottled by JINRO) for less than half the price of that I LOHAS garbage!

Yes, Mika Mifune is Toshiro's baby girl. Her mother was his mistress, I can't remember her name, but if you've seen "Shogun" she plays the head courtesan "Kiku". And a rather hot one at that. Anyway.... uh... ....water.

Why buy water and lug it home from the store ( water is heavy! ) when all you have to do is buy an inexpensive ( 3,000 - 5,000 ) yen water purifier and stick it on your kitchen sink faucet?
Replace the cartridge every 6 months or so. 6 months of water for drinking/cooking is A LOT of water.

Most true mineral waters are not safe for infants and can tzdlead to kidney stones etc. And be wary of spring water.. Many of the big beverage ( maybe even beer?) makers are using artesian springs ( groundwater) from very dubious locales in Chiba and Tochigi etc. Course.. Hasn't stopped me drinking beer but I tell myself it is kansai water.. Which probably makes little difference these days. :)

I sincerely doubt that this water comes from anyplace safer than the questionable public water supply. In fact it's probably worse since somebody is at least pretending to check at the public treatment plants whereas nobody's checking whatever well or river Coke is tapping. Ordering foreign water is great. Then all you need to do is quit breathing and eating and you'll avoid radioactive contamination. But anything is fine, as long as you have a smile on your face. Dr. Shunichi Yamashita, Fukushima Prefecture's advisor on radiation, says radiation doesn't hurt smiling people. And since beer will put a smile there, it's even safer than water.
