Suzanne goes for vampire look at 'Blade' promotion

TOKYO —

“Talent” Suzanne, 21, is the latest celebrity to promote an American TV series, appearing this week at an event for the release of the DVD series based on the comic “Blade Blood of Chthon.” Dressed as a sexy vampire in red miniskirt, she said, “Blade is very cool and he is my type. I’d love to work with a character like that in a drama or film in the future.”

Asked about actor Koji Yamamoto, 31, who has been rumored to be her boyfriend, she said, “I don’t see much of him these days.”

Suzanne hmm, she's not too bad. Looks like Koji has lost interest too. Now would be a good time to go for it, but it's extremely difficult to predict where she'll pop up next given there is absolutely no connection between events and the people used to promote them.

I wonder why the quotes over "talent." To me talent is something one is born with, and if good looks are a talent then I don't see why beautiful women can't be considered talented for their good looks.

The quotes are to show that the Japanese call these people "talent" and that it is being quoted to show that it doesnt carry the same meaning as what we English speakers read it as. Its just one of many examples of Japanese appropriation of another language being used in gairaigo and not necessarily meaning the same thing - take "Zubon" takn from the French "Jupon" - in Japanese, trousers; in French, petticoat. alternatively there is the way that the quote marks can show the use of sarcasm or irony...
