Suzanne steals the groom in 'Mikitty-Shoji' wedding

TOKYO —

Comedian Tomoharu Shoji, 33, of the Shinagawa Shoji comedy duo, announced he had gotten married this week. The bride? Singer Miki Fujimoto, 24, who had announced her engagement in March, right? No, wait! The role of the bride was stolen by 22-year-old “talent” and “Quiz Hexagon” co-host Suzanne.

Actually, the scenario is only a promotional story for the new wedding song, “Deaette Yokatta” (“I’m Happy I Met You”), to be released May 20 by the new comedy unit formed by Shoji and Suzanne. The video was filmed at a church in Tokyo in April, and the two performed their roles, from the walk down the aisle to that faithful kiss, as if they were doing the real thing.

Of the wedding, Shoji smiled bitterly, saying, “When (Chairman) Shunsuke Shimada first approached me with this story, I was a little worried. But now I’m really enjoying it!”

Suzanne commented, “I made sure we rehearsed the entire thing so that Tomo didn’t screw up during the real ceremony!”

all these mock weddings lead me to think that women have a tendency to get married just so that they can have their "fairy tale" ceremony. shame that at a wedding lasts a day whilst the marriage (is at least supposed to) last the rest of your natural life...
